🎈Not your average repair job, these giant granite balloons have become a familiar sight at Dundas Driving Park.

The sculptures were created by British Columbia-based artists Paul Slipper and Mary Anne Liu as part of a public art installation called The Big Bounce.

🎈Over time, some sections required repair and restoration, so HGH was brought in to help preserve the pieces.

The first step was a detailed assessment to determine what could be saved and what needed replacing.

🎈In this case, we were able to retain portions of the original granite while sourcing new stone to match the existing material.

Repairing and reusing sections of the existing stone preserved the character of the artwork - and reduced the scope and cost of the restoration.

🎈Using selection of hand tools, polishing pads, and structural-grade epoxy, our team carefully repaired, blended, and reassembled the affected sections before reinstalling them on site.

Unfortunately, we were disheartened to learn that the sculptures have already been vandalised again since the restoration was completed. We’ll be returning to carry out further repairs and do our part to help preserve this public artwork for the community.

🎈Public art helps bring character, creativity, and conversation to shared spaces. We hope visitors can continue to enjoy and appreciate these pieces without causing further damage, so they can be enjoyed for years to come.

As HGH's Quoting Specialist and Inside Sales team member, Steven wears a lot of hats.

From preparing day-to-day quotes to supporting projects behind the scenes, he helps keep things moving from initial enquiry through to production.

One of the things Steven enjoys most about his role is the variety.

On the memorial side, he feels privileged to help families and monument companies create lasting tributes during difficult times.

On the architectural side, he's involved in projects for hotels, businesses, public spaces, and landmarks.

“For (public architectural) projects like that, they’re just cool,” he says.
“There’s no other way to put it. It’s just cool to see a project like that start at the beginning and then go all the way to the end.”

This year, we're celebrating some epic work anniversaries:

🪨 Renay Hardwick: 20 years
🪨 Brandyn Clarkson: 20 years
🪨 Victor Hassan: 10 years

Renay helps keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes, from reception to accounts.

Brandyn has been a cornerstone of our shop team for two decades, and Victor is an integral part of our shipping, receiving, and yard operations.

Together, that's 50 years of dedication, experience, and commitment to HGH!

We're incredibly grateful for everything they contribute to our team and company culture - and love having them around.

Thank you, Renay, Brandyn, and Victor, for your hard work, loyalty, and the many years you've dedicated to HGH. Here's to the next chapter! 👏

We work on projects of all sizes. Some big, some small.

This one just happened to be around 40 tons!

For Trillium Park at Ontario Place in Toronto, we sourced and delivered the Ontario stone used throughout the site, including the large engraved entrance boulder that welcomes visitors to the park.

At approximately 40 tons, moving this piece from quarry to site required careful planning, coordination, and plenty of logistical expertise.

Projects like this are a reminder that working with natural stone on a large scale is about much more than the material itself. It's about knowing how to source it, transport it, and place it successfully.

We loved being a part of this public project.

We‘ve recently had a big update to our shop.

We said goodbye to our original crane - a key member of our team from 1992 - and welcomed in a new 5-ton SGTR crane.

Supplied and installed by Prolift Crane & Hoist Inc, the new kit plays a key role in our day-to-day work, moving granite between stations - such as, from shaping to sandblasting.

Great to have a new system in place to keep everything running smoothly.

A big thank you to the team at Prolift for their support on this one.

Wishing a peaceful Memorial Day to our friends and partners across the United States. 🇺🇸

While it’s business as usual at HGH today, we pause to remember and honour those who have served and sacrificed.

We’re taking a look back at one of our favourite projects: Trillium Park at Ontario Place, Toronto.

We had the pleasure of working alongside Aldershot Landscape Contractors, UCC Group Inc., and the design team at LandInc., contributing granite elements that helped shape some of the park’s most distinctive spaces. Here’s what HGH delivered:

• Dimensionally cut granite for the ravine walls and bridge area
• Quarried natural stone for the bluff wall along the waterfront
• Sandblasted moccasin engravings integrated into the ravine walls
• Sourcing and fabrication of Northern Ontario granite across key features

We’re always grateful to play a part in bringing outdoor spaces like these to life that have a lasting impact on the city.

Today we’re shouting out to our brilliant team mate Keshia Carron.

Since joining HGH Granite in 2021, Keshia’s expanded her skillset across our busy workshop.

Starting out in stencil layout and gold leaf work, before moving on to shape carving, she’s now an expert in sandblast engraving.

She plays a key role in bringing clients’ designs to life and making sure each piece meets our exacting standards before they leave the workshop.

Always positive, hardworking, and a great presence on our team, we’re lucky to have her. Thank you, Keshia ⭐

Excited to have supplied the granite for the new Scrivener Square / The James project in Toronto, working with Aldershot Landscape Contractors and architect CCxA.

HGH provided granite pavers, cobbles, and curb in a mix of Charcoal, Caledonia, and Antique Rose - combining domestic and imported stone to achieve a cohesive look across the site.

This development will bring new residential and retail space to the area.

Pleased to be a part of this contemporary project. Keep an eye out for further updates.
