Another trip around the sun 🤍

This year has been full of change, little moments I want to hold onto, and reminders of how lucky I am to share life with the people I love. I’m grateful for my family and all the love that makes this season of life so special.

I’m also grateful for the opportunity to grow our business, serve our customers, and build something meaningful for our family and community.

Here’s to another year of growing, laughing, building, and making memories. 🎂✨

📰 NEWS FROM THE CREWS 🏠

Your roof, from our point of view! 👀

Some rooftops are easy to access. Others require strength, teamwork, and a lot of determination.

When hydro lines, trees, tight spaces, or limited access prevent a boom truck from reaching the roof, our crew carries the materials up the ladder by hand. It’s demanding work, but getting the materials safely to the rooftop is an important part of doing the job right.

The finished shingles may get all the attention, but the effort behind every roof replacement starts long before installation. Our crews are ready to take on the challenge—no matter how difficult the access.

Follow along for more rooftop views with Edge’s Roofing!

NEWS FROM THE CREWS 🏠🔨

What was hiding beneath this old roof?

Once the existing shingles were removed, our crew uncovered the home’s original board decking. Older homes were commonly built using individual wood boards instead of the plywood or OSB sheathing typically used today.

Old board decking is not automatically a problem—but this deck had significant deterioration, split and broken boards, uneven areas and large gaps.

Those openings could leave new shingle nails without a solid surface to fasten into. Installing BP Mystique architectural shingles directly over this deck would not have provided the consistent foundation required for a quality roofing system.

Before moving forward, our crew installed a new 3/8” plywood overlay across the existing boards. This created a smooth, continuous and dependable surface for proper fastening and for the protective roofing materials installed beneath the shingles.

The plywood may eventually be hidden, but it is one of the most important parts of this roof replacement.

Because a quality roof isn’t only about what you see on top—it has to be built properly from the deck up.

That trust is something we’ll never take for granted.

Every call, every inspection and every roof entrusted to our team supports a local family business—and the families behind it. After more than 75 years, being chosen by our community is still the greatest compliment we could receive.

Thank you for choosing Edge’s Roofing. 🏠❤️

🗞️ NEWS FROM THE CREWS: Raccoon Renovations 🦝🔨

This little troublemaker tried to create its own entrance—right through the roof vent and surrounding shingles!

As fall approaches, raccoons begin searching for warm, sheltered places to nest. Lightweight aluminum vents can be bent and peeled open, especially when the surrounding shingles are already worn or damaged.

Our crew removed the damaged vent, replaced it with a heavy-duty metal Ventilation Maximum Airhawk vent, and repaired the surrounding shingles. The result? A watertight, critter-resistant repair that will help protect this home until the full roof is ready for replacement.

You never know what our crews will uncover—follow along for more News from the Crews!

“Be the person everybody else has to play catch-up with.”

This advice sounds a lot like something my dad would say—but truthfully, it may have come more from my mother, Maureen.

She has managed the books at Edge’s Roofing for my entire life, often rising before dawn to get into the office and accomplish her most important work before the distractions of a busy home and family business begin.

That same work ethic carries onto our job sites. Roofing is a seasonal trade, and our crews start early to beat the summer heat, make the most of every workable hour and maximize Ontario’s short roofing season.

Around here, getting an early start isn’t simply a routine—it’s a work ethic passed down through generations.
