Happy Thanksgiving! 🇨🇦 Did you know raccoons used to be a Thanksgiving staple? Raccoons were such a common food in North America that in 1926, U.S. President Calvin Coolidge was presented a raccoon for his Thanksgiving dinner. However, instead of serving it as the main dish, he decided to make it a pet and named her Rebecca. This decision marked a shift in how people viewed raccoons—less as food and more as animals to be appreciated (from a distance, of course)! Nowadays, while we appreciate their cuteness, we’re thankful that people choose to remove raccoons from their homes and yards in a humane way, like we do at Integrity Wildlife Control.
