From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who bought bouquets this peony season.
💕💕💕

I couldn't continue this gig without your support. Thank you for choosing local, seasonal blooms.

Summer is colliding with late spring. This is the only week we will have bouquets that look like this.

This Saturday all peonies will go on the drying rack and we'll be waiting on sunflowers for our focals... as long as the squirrels stop digging them up.

If you like dreamy white, pink and soft yellow bouquets this is your weekend.

Peony season is wrapping up this week.

Bouquets will be available until June 27th, or we sell out.

July will be slower, but should include some mini sunflowers and a ton of perennials and filler flowers while we wait for summer annuals to kick in.

Living Their Best (Vase)Life - How to maximize the vaselife of your flowers...

• Cool Temps — the warmer your home the faster they will bloom and fade
• Clean Water — changing the water every day isn't a bad idea. I recommend at least every other day.
• Fresh Cut Stems — cut 1cm off the ends when you first put them in their vase, then again on Day 3 or 4
• Light — flowers look gorgeous on a sunny window sill, just be aware this will push them to open and fade faster

Flower Food

I used to recommend a cap of bleach in the water. Some years I included flower food packages with my bouquets. But after reading more about flower food, and vase testing for a few years I'm not sure it actually *extends* vaselife. It seems to push flowers to open faster.

Every grower has different needs and contexts, so if they recommend using flower food for their flowers my advice is to follow their advice. But for our blooms, I'm not sure it makes much of a difference.

The growing season in Ontario is 99% waiting for last frost and 1% exclaiming that summer is going by so fast.

We are right in the middle of peony season. They will be available for two more weeks with earliest varieties gone by the middle of this week (looking at you, Coral Charm). Then we dip into our yearly flower gap as we wait for summer annuals.

I'm coming up for air this weekend to do some social stuff. The last few years I've focused on growing all season without making time to enjoy the weather and be social. Then I wonder where the time has gone.

Here's to slowing down and making time for the things that matter most. 😎⛱️🍹

A customer reached out to me and offered to buy a bouquet for a nurse who needed a pick me up.

These types of thoughtful gestures are so lovely -- and frankly restore my faith in humanity.

Thank you! 🩷

With the large grocery chains selling flowers that must last 14+ days in the vase, it's important to set expectations regarding local, seasonal flowers.

Peonies last 3-5 days in the vase. They're here for a good time, not a long time.

They will come to you looking like lollipops wrapped in paper.

We sell them like this so you get to watch them open in your home.

Obsessed with coral charm's colour change. At some point later in her blooming she almost (almost!) gives off Pastelegance colouring.

I'm heading to the plot today to harvest from our 30 coral charm plants. Cross your fingers they're not all blown out yet. 🤞🏻
