Our (aka Chris’s) newest completed project: This 16x20-foot custom deck with wrap around steps and mitred paver stones. Brown pressure treated wood, wrapped in DuPont flashing to extend the life of the structure. Following code, the deck is 22 inches off the ground for easy access and doesn’t require a rail. Swipe for before photos, including a surprise concrete step that Chris demoed ahead of the build. I love how this new deck opens up the back of the house! 😍 -M

Chris’s projects for .homes shore cabin this week included a new staircase rail - sured up to 36 inches along the stairs and 42 inches termination height at the top to meet safety codes. Also, a ton of v-groove pine in the basement went up - horizontal on the stairs and vertical in the main area. All about those detailed, precision cuts and getting the angles right. 👌🏻-M

Introducing our new logo! This is a special one for us, as it builds upon a family design. Before retiring, Chris’s mom was an independent architect and hand-drafted a “Liot Design” logo for her business. With her permission, we took her logo and updated it with a carpentry flair (ie. a hammer). We’re proud to move forward with a piece of family continuity at the forefront of our business.

Swipe to see Chris’s draft update and my mother-in-law’s original design. - M

A custom live-edge coffee table that Chris recently crafted as a wedding gift for his best friend and partner. The slab came from a Pine tree that fell during a hurricane on his friend’s property on the South Shore. From there it was in dry storage outside for five years, and inside for the last year to get the humidity levels in the wood just right. Lots of planing, sanding, and shellacking later and this table was born. A black painted base, with a hard maple apron and reclaimed pallet for the splayed legs rounds out the piece.

Swipe to see some behind the scenes shots and this table’s counterpart (live-edge coffee table with a slab from the same tree) Chris finished a couple of years ago that currently lives in his parents’ guest space. 👌🏻

From old maple flooring to new hardwood countertop. Chris repurposed the 80 year-old flooring that came with our house (and had seen better days) to put together this beauty of a countertop for our new kitchen. I love this detail - A bit of the original house still present in our renovated home. Swipe for a before of the countertop and the flooring before it was taken up! -M

Back in January, Chris worked diligently to finish installing the new baseboards and trim on the main level of our house. This was my birthday gift from him and it made me so happy to see the finishing details of our reno come together! -M

A couple of years ago, we upsized to a king sized bed and Chris put his mind to making a us a new headboard. I asked if he could do something with a chevron-type pattern. The result? Six types of wood in a herringbone pattern, with an Ash chevron accent row and a Walnut finishing border. He put almost 200 hours into this beauty, prepping and finishing each individual piece of wood before fitting them all together. -M
