Weeping Tile Wednesday 💧

This finished basement recently flooded, causing thousands of dollars in damage and repairs.

We excavated the foundation wall to get to the source of the problem. Once exposed, we found older repairs and cracking in the foundation that needed attention.

We took care of the problem properly:

Repaired the problem areas and cracks

Installed a new waterproofing membrane

Installed new PVC weeping tile

Added plenty of drain stone

Installed filter fabric to help keep the drainage system clean and working properly

When it comes to a finished basement, good foundation drainage is cheap insurance compared to dealing with another flood.

Another Waterloo Flatbed septic system installed this week!

These systems are a great option for properties with challenging soil conditions or limited space for a conventional septic field. This installation included the treatment system, pump chamber and Waterloo Flatbed—all carefully installed, graded and prepared for reliable long-term operation.

If you’re building a new home, replacing a failed septic system or exploring options for a difficult property, give Dort Excavation Ltd. a call. We’re certified and equipped to handle the complete installation from start to finish.

This week we had a system replacement, luckily before anyone got hurt on this property.

This septic tank was broken and covered with rotten wood, which could easily collapse under a child.

An open tank also poses risks from sewage, harmful gases or even drowning.

If you have a damaged or improperly covered septic tank:

• Keep everyone away
• Mark or barricade the area
• Contact us

Back in the cab this week, getting an engineered septic trench dug out before the day got away on us. Long trench, deep clay.

This is what owner-operated means with us. 👌
