This pi day (3.14) our mouths aren’t watering for 🥧, we’re too excited about the warm temperatures in the forecast! It’s been a long winter, friends. If you’re celebrating the changing of the seasons with long walks, it’s time to start increasing your awareness about ticks. Ticks will get mobile as soon as the “-“ in front of the temperature melts and are often VERY active in early spring.

Protect yourself and your pets with a personal spray of your choice - we have everything from deet-free to heavy deet to suit any preference.

Learn how to check yourself after spending time outside and have something on hand to properly remove any ticks that have started feeding, such as our ‘tick key’.

There’s no reason not to get outside, we just have to adopt a new level of vigilance in Haliburton County.

Wondering what to do about gypsy moth? Knowing what to do - and when - can help you to manage gypsy moth on your property.

Control options are specific to the insect’s life stage and time of year. When the caterpillars are active in late spring, banding trees with burlap gives them a place to congregate during warm days. They can be physically removed and destroyed in soapy water. Wear gloves to protect your hands from possible irritation from the caterpillar’s hairs.

Introducing our new line of chemical-free mosquito products!

ECPC has partnered with Green-Strike to offer a line of new or updated products. Most of the designs are pollinator-friendly and target only mosquitoes, so harm to beneficial insects will be minimal. As a bonus, these products are Canadian-made!

The Auto Preventer is our best suggestion for overall property protection. Each unit will lure mosquitoes from about 0.5 acres to lay their eggs in the unit, which then filters the eggs so they dry out and can't hatch. There is a monthly refill kit to replace the filter and lure, and studies have shown mosquito reductions up to 70% in 3 weeks!

If you don't want to mess around with a refill kit, get in touch with us. We are offering maintenance services within our service range so all you have to worry about is bringing the unit inside in September to store it for the winter.
