OK, now back to a yacht model this time...our bread & butter work for many years.
This is the second model of the same yacht. Designed by Gregory C Marshall (www.gregmarshalldesign.com/) and launched by Philbrook's Boatyard (https://philbrooks.com/) many years ago as the "Chinook Post", and now as the "Umiak V". Both models are 3/8" =1' scale and measure 26" long. The original model (first image) has been in Philbrooks office for several years and the current owner often saw it during his visits and wanted a model of his beloved yacht for himself. Basically, unchanged from her launching, I did incorporate some updates to reflect her current form with specific electronics up top and different tender and ATV. Also upgrading the model from the original, I have added wipers, laser cut wood decking and window frames...all creating a more interesting model!

Our models are clean and crisp, all surfaces are faired smooth and straight. Could there be more detail? Sure. I can custom tailor to your needs.

It's been a while since my last post...I've been busy!

In the past, I've posted scale models of architectural models, motor yachts, sailboats, tugboats, ferries, submarines and AUV's This is something a little different...This "vessel" floats ...and sinks! This is a 4' long scale model of a submersible drydock. This was built for Meridian Marine ( https://www.vancouvershiprepair.ca/ ), here in BC of their soon to be retrofitted barge turned into a mobile drydock. This model is 1:75 scale and features many laser cut, photo etched, cast, and hand made components.

A round up of projects from our shop this past year.
I simply love my work.
This year was very full of a variety of interesting projects. I'd like to thank all of my wonderful clients who trusted me to build models of their vessels and commissioned these fine models and charts!
I am still working flat out on more exciting projects and next year is looking to be yet another busy year.

Even more news about icebreakers lately!
Here's a few more photos of one of two models we built for Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards of their 100m Multi Purpose Icebreaker (MPI) for our Canadian Coast Guard. This is one of the designs (with some modifications) that the USA has chosen recently. Everything was custom / specifically built and spray painted to their specifications.

There has been a lot of news about icebreakers lately.
Here's one of a pair of 3/32"=1' scale models we built for Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards of their 100m Multi Purpose Icebreaker (MPI). They will be starting to build several of these in the near future for our Coast Guard. One model was sent to their Ottawa office, the other stayed in North Vancouver. These 30" models featured several laser cut, 3d printed, cast resin, soldered, photo-etched and of course hand made components. Everything was custom / specifically built and spray painted to their specifications.

OK, last post was a wind powered sailboat, now a hydrogen powered AUV (autonomous underwater vehicle)! This is one of several 1:10 scale models we have built for Cellula Robotics in Burnaby, BC ( https://cellula.com/ ). This model features their new colours and branding and is used for marketing at various trade shows worldwide. This model is around 4' long and all appendages are removeable for shipping.

It's time to catch up on posting some recent scale models...This is "Ben Ben". A Dehler 47sq at 1:24 scale making it around 2' long and with mast, around 3' tall. This was shipped to an owner in Spain, so to reduce costs for shipping a tall crate, I made it with the mast separate to be installed after shipping. If you look close you may see the small pad eyes on deck and loops on the ends of the stays. The stays, shrouds and other lines are elastic, so this makes the stepping process and rigging fairly easy. This model was built according to the drawings with several laser cut components cast fittings and soldered details. The mast, boom and winches have a carbon fiber pattern applied, while other deck hardware and railings are chrome finished. The model was spraypainted with automotive finishes and attached to a mirror topped base with aluminum trim. I provided dimensions and tolerances for an acrylic case for plastic fabricators in Spain.

Here's some more relief from the crazy geopolitical world we are all experiencing...

This is a pair of scale models we built for Seaspan Vancouver Shipyard of the Canadian Coast Guards' new polar icebreaker. You may have heard that they have just started cutting steel!
As a proud patriotic Canadian, I am supremely proud and honored to have built these models.
These identical models are built at 3/32"=1' scale...or 1:128 measuring 1.22m long.
The models feature strong fiberglass hulls, laser cut and engraved superstructure, 3d printed lifeboats & RHIB's, and many cast resin components. Railings and staircases are chemical etched brass.

Why so many methods? Why not 3d print everything?
Quality.
I see and know quality.
I will not put our name on anything that is not high quality.
No, we cannot compete with everyone, because that is a race to the bottom.

If you want a fine scale model that reflects the quality of YOUR company, this is what we build.
