Meet David Fabbro- Senior Project Manager

Returning to WB Melback Corporation after 10 years has been both a professional privilege and a strategic opportunity.

My association with the business spans more than 35 years, including a decade with the company prior to my current assignment. Those experiences provided a strong foundation and a deep understanding of the values that have contributed to WB Melback's long-term success. After gaining additional experience and perspective elsewhere, I was excited to return and help drive the next phase of the company's growth.

What continues to impress me is the strength of our people and culture. W B Melback Corporation is a Canadian-owned company based in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario, specializing in Mechanical Maintenance and Industrial Construction Services for the Forestry, Mining, and Oil & Gas sectors across North America.

With over 30 years of management experience, we provide capital project ex*****on, turnaround maintenance, and general contracting services. We are committed to safety, sustainability, and building strong partnerships with Indigenous communities while supporting environmental, social, and governance initiatives.
As we continue to expand across Northern Ontario, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Controller to lead our accounting operations, strengthen financial controls, and support strategic decision-making in a fast-paced, project-based environment.

Position Summary

The Accounting Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction, industrial services, or other project-based accounting environments, along with strong leadership and analytical skills.

Reporting to the CFO, this role works closely with project controls and operations leadership to improve profitability, reporting accuracy, and overall financial performance across multiple projects and divisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting
•Prepare monthly and annual financial statements
•Lead month-end and year-end close processes
•Maintain general ledger accuracy and account reconciliations
•Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and projections
•Analyze financial performance & provide operational insights
•Prepare KPI and project profitability reporting

Job Costing & Project Accounting
•Oversee project accounting and job costing processes
•Support project teams with timely and accurate financial data
•Ensure accurate revenue recognition & percentage-of-
completion reporting
•Review contract billing, progress draws, hold-backs, & change
orders

Controls & Compliance
•Develop and maintain internal accounting controls and
procedures
•Support continuous improvement of ERP/accounting systems
and workflows

Qualifications
•CPA designation preferred
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
•5+ years of accounting leadership experience
•Experience in construction, industrial services, manufacturing, or
project-based environments strongly preferred

Compensation & Benefits
•Salary range: $90,000–$175,000 annually, based on experience
and qualifications
•Comprehensive benefits program

The recent engineering study reflects our long-term vision of expanding North America's domestic critical minerals processing capacity and strengthening the battery materials supply chain.

Meet Our People: Summer Student Spotlight — Sam Rivard

This summer, we’re excited to welcome Sam Rivard to the WB Melback Corporation team!

Sam is currently pursuing his Honors Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and has been gaining valuable hands-on experience while working alongside our team. One of the highlights of his summer has been the opportunity to work with our senior staff, learning about the day-to-day operations of the business and gaining insight into the many moving parts that keep an organization running.

Sam has had the opportunity to meet with various stakeholders and clients, participate in meetings, and gain a better understanding of the importance of communication, collaboration, and relationship-building in the business environment. Through these experiences, he has been able to see firsthand how the different areas of a company come together to support successful projects and partnerships.

Sam has enjoyed building his skills and is proud to have become much more proficient in Microsoft applications while developing new skills and expanding his knowledge of the industrial business environment.

We’ve truly enjoyed having Sam as part of our team and appreciate the enthusiasm and willingness to learn that he brings every day. We look forward to seeing all that Sam accomplishes throughout his education and beyond!
