We have arrived at the end of the season for our second year! The final club meeting will be this Saturday, November 4, at Hadashville Hall in Reynolds Civic Center. Days are shorter, the chill is setting in, and the snow has begun - it's the perfect time to talk about Winter Seed Sowing! Different methods can be effective for native plants, hardy perennials, even some garden veggies and flowers ๐Ÿ™‚

YES, we are having our October meeting back in the Hadashville Hall at Reynolds Civic Center on Saturday the 14th! By request, we will have another presentation on Clay Pot Irrigation. This method was seen at 2 of the garden visits this summer and sparked lots of questions. This photo shows the root mat surrounding a pot that was removed at the end of the season - amazing! See you at 10am ๐Ÿ™‚

The weather was blustery the day of our August garden visit, but quite a few members made it out to enjoy an amazing tour of veggies, berries, and a mini orchard. Check out the backdrop of mini-corn (yes, the type for stir-fry!), some stalks were 12 feet high ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Our final garden visit of the season is this Wednesday, September 13 ๐Ÿ™‚

The second garden visit meeting of July was a great evening! Seeing how different mulch methods were used, as well as enjoying some farm animals who happily cleaned up the abundant produce and provided manure to make the garden so prolific!
This month's garden visit is on Wednesday August 16, I think we're all looking forward to it ๐Ÿ™‚

We are well into the growing season, have you tried something new in your garden? In June we had a demonstration presentation on creating different water stations for polinators, this is my one for bees. This month we have TWO members hosting evening garden visits: the first is on Wednesday July 12, the second is on Thursday July 20. There is so much to learn by seeing how others do things and having the chance to ask questions, I can't wait!

Our Club Meeting this month is Saturday, June 17. ๐Ÿ™‚ International Pollinator Week 2023 is June 19-25! In Canada that means bees, wasps, flies, beetles, moths, butterflies, and birds - all of which could use a little help in having safe healthy habitats. We'll have a demonstration presentation on creating Bee Hydration Stations and Butterfly Puddlers. Every living thing needs water; providing a place in your space where this essential need can be met can increase the number of polinators and beneficial insects in your garden ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿž

Anyone who thinks there is not much to look at in the garden until July clearly has been missing out on perrenials! The early June heat has really seen lots of things get a head start and flowers are bursting out all at once. Thank you to Margaret Feilberg for sharing this photo of her bountiful border of lupins, iris, and peonies ๐Ÿ˜Perhaps next year she'll host a garden visit and we can learn her secrets for sucess with lupins!
