About Us:

T. A. Bunker Surveying Ltd. is a progressive firm utilizing the latest technologies to provide a range of land surveying services. Since 1989 the firm has operated from its office in Gravenhurst, Ontario, and provides services throughout the Muskoka and Parry Sound area. Located on the south side of Muskoka, Gravenhurst is known as “The Gateway to Muskoka” and offers four-season opportunities for outdoor work and play, as well as hosting many cultural and artistic events throughout the year.

Our Opportunity:

T. A. Bunker Surveying Ltd. currently has a full time, immediate opening for an Instrument Technician. Experience is not required but is preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent teamwork skills, will enjoy outdoor work all times of the year, and will be required to operate total stations,GNSS receivers, and levels on a daily basis.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be expected to assist the Survey Crew Chief with daily field projects, including:

• uploading and downloading data at the beginning and end of each day

• understanding the workings of survey equipment and taking careful measurements

• managing equipment and supplies and restocking as necessary

• being a safe and positive example of our firm to the general public

• following safety and survey instructions

• physically able to lift and carry approximately 30lbs of equipment, and able to work outdoors for an entire day at all times of the year

Candidates should:

• have a “G” class drivers licence

• have a willingness to work hard and to learn new skills

• be able to problem solve and identify efficient work methodologies

• be a punctual and motivated worker

• be preferably experienced with Leica total stations and GNSS equipment; experience with MicroSurvey CAD and COGO calculations would be an asset

• be able to work out of town occasionally on large projects outside of the immediate MuskokaParry Sound area

Wage will be based on experience and abilities. It is expected that Instrument Technician staff will progress to Survey Crew Chief positions as they gain experience and knowledge.

Section 6 of the Surveys Act confers the right to a surveyor, or a person in the professional surveyor's employ, while making a survey, to enter and pass over the land of any person at any time, or to enter into a building, at a time suitable to the occupant.
