I said I wasn't going to plant a garden this year 😅. I mean... better late than never. But not really late at all. Historically late for me I suppose. Anyways .. I digress. I've successfully planted yet another annual vegetable garden for my family complete with plenty of root vegetables. :)

Hi friends 🤍

I know it’s been a little quiet around here. This is my first post since October/November. Winter has been full and busy in all the ways, and I truly hope you’ve all been doing well.

I wanted to share what this upcoming season at Wild Woods Acres is going to look like.
This year, the garden will be closed for the season. My focus is shifting inward toward garden management, soil health, and long-term care of the space. I won’t be starting annuals, and there won’t be workshops this year.

Instead, I’ll be pouring my energy into perennials, moving things around (again 😅), improving the soil, and giving the gardens the attention they deserve. And most importantly… family time. Lots and lots of family time this summer. That’s a big priority for me.

It’s been such a beautiful ride so far, and I’m incredibly grateful for every bit of support you’ve given me. Will Wild Woods Acres be back in the future? Absolutely. This is just a season of tending, to the land, and to life.

If there’s something specific you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I might still have something tucked away for you. I’ll also be dividing and digging up quite a few perennials this year and giving a lot of them away or selling for super cheap... so keep an eye on my stories.

Don’t leave just yet 🤍

I love you all. Thank you for your support, past and future. It means more than you know.

— Celeste

✨ Dried floral beauty, grown and created right here at Wild Woods Acres. 🌿
This winter wreath will be part of the 6th Annual Tinseltown Winter Market, happening November 14–16, 2025 at the Bonnetts Energy Centre in Grande Prairie.

It’s included in the silent auction, with proceeds supporting the Compassion House Foundation — so you can bid online and support an incredible cause while taking home a piece of garden-grown art. 💛

✨ The Golden Tamarack ✨

Every autumn, the forest around Wild Woods Acres transforms — and one of the most magical sights of all is the Tamarack (also called Larch). Unlike most conifers, Tamaracks are deciduous evergreens , meaning they grow soft green needles through summer, then turn brilliant gold before gently falling away in late autumn.

Native to northern North America, Tamaracks thrive in cool, boggy soils and can withstand the harshest winters. Historically, Indigenous peoples used Tamarack wood and bark for building canoes, snowshoes, and medicinal teas. Its strength and flexibility made it a tree of resilience, a symbol of endurance and renewal through the darkest seasons.

In folklore, Tamaracks are said to mark the turning of the year, a reminder that even the evergreen forest needs its rest. Their golden glow lights up the swamps and forests like a last farewell before winter. ✨

Every fall, I find myself stopping to admire these quiet giants, their soft needles shimmering in the sunlight, turning the woods into a sea of gold.

🍁 Here’s to the Tamarack, a wild northern beauty that teaches us to let go gracefully and shine while we do it. 🌾💛
