Denver Jan 9,2012-Dec 2, 2025

With a heavy heart, I write this.
Denver only needed one name. That’s how unique he was. He did have nicknames though. Den, bubby, baba-loo, daddy’s boy, and my favourite,… handsome.
Where do I begin to explain his almost 14 years.
He started his dog life with his little buddy crayon. She took her new brother in with a grain of salt. Arguing over toys, tug of war was the best. Digging massive holes in the sand and then running in the waves to cool off. They always ended the night in the same bed, on the same blanket.
Denver would meet his newest friend, Jojo in the summer of 2014. Together with Crayon, the three of them would spend many days at the river. Swimming and running was the only thing on their mind. Loving life.
Denver sadly lost Jojo the following summer in 2015, and then Crayon in 2019. One must wonder how a dog grieves.
Denver soon became an employee of MacLeod Excavating. Monday to Friday and some Saturdays, he was diligently at work early in the morning doing his security rounds. His walk was so gracious, this was his job and he took it extremely serious . Countless of employees and customers respected and looked for him on site. They would try to give him a treat for being so nice but, anyone that knew him, knew that he only liked the gravy bones. After all, it had Crayons picture on the box.
When one was so fortunate to give him a treat, he would slightly open his mouth for you to place the cookie in. He was the gentlest of giants you could ever meet.
Always up for an adventure. His favourite was just going for a drive in the truck with his dad. It didn’t matter where he went, as long as he got to go.
He absolutely loved fishing! He’d get so excited when dad would say,. Wanna go fishing? It was hard for him to control his excitement when driving down to the water. Once out, he would run up and down the river in pure enjoyment. And if he ever saw a fish coming in on the line…. Oh boy!!! The excitement escalated quickly. That was probably his favourite part of the whole trip.
He was a very independent dog. He loved the river and the boat house and would often take it upon himself to walk down , go for a quick dip, and straddle back up the hill. All the while, making us wait to get to work.
His favourite holiday by far was Xmas. He would never touch a single gift under the tree until you told him to go get his presents. It was like he could read his name on the gift tag. He’d drag it out and get so excited to rip all that paper off the new teddy or toy. He’d squeak it and squeak it. Then, go back and see what else Santa brought him.
Never greed, just pure excitement to open his presents.
He never missed an occasion. He’d wear his special white tie to Riley’s graduation, Amelia’s graduation, and Dads 60 birthday. He was always up for a party. There was always food, So he loved that, and loved being included of course.
Denver lived his fullest life. Camping, swimming, fishing, shopping at Dartmouth Crossing, conning nanny into giving him wieners, eating happy meals,… milk for the drink, rides in the side by side, and drives in the 54 Dodge that he was helping dad rebuild. Denver made every day an adventure.
He was most happy when the bbq got lit. He knew of course there would be an extra pork chop or steak going on for him. And of course he loved his baked potatoes with butter!
We never did get a chance to do an ancestry dna on him but, there had to be some Italian in him. He loved his pasta and pizza.
Denver was one of a kind, and there will be no other quite like him.
He will always be in our hearts and mind.
Forever loved and remembered, mom, dad, Riley, Amelia, nanny, Ryder, JJ, Howie.

Love you forever handsome ❤️

We at Macleod Excavating regretfully announce the passing of Billy. He was our uncle, our friend, our mentor, and our grader operator at 83 years old.
He was always a helping hand and great story teller. We will miss your daily visits to the shop and certainly miss our 10 min jobs that turned into 2hrs, and our 2hr jobs that turned into all day ❤️
They say the road to heaven is paved and for you Billy, it certainly is! But if we know you, you found the only gravel road up there and are doing what you loved best 😉. You will be missed Billy, rest easy ❤️
