Double Announcement!

Firstly I want to take a moment and thank the outstanding members of this community that have consistently and continuously supported this small town locksmith, especially to those that reached out recently and helped to sort things out for our mobile POS issue that arose last week. We are excited to announce that not only has our ability to accept credit card on the road been restored but we can now accept debit card transactions on the road more easily.

Our other announcement, today July 31st 2026 marks five years since Sterling Battrick, moved back to Grand Forks to begin the process of taking over the business, it has been quite the journey from introducing even accepting credit/debit, to expanding our vehicle key/programming capabilities, our electronic access both keyfob and automatic door automation options to introducing both High Security options and full Master Key Systems. We are excited to see what comes next with plans in the work to expand potential into the security camera sector, so that we can continue to provide some of the best service found in the Grand Forks and surrounding area’s.

Unfortunately due to a customers claim that the charge on their card was fraud for the two and a half hours spent working on their truck getting them up and running, Battrick & Sons Locksmithing is no longer able to process Credit Card and Debit Card on the road, so if you have an emergency you better have cash.

It is really sad when people try to commit fraud against a small town locksmith that has been serving the community for decades.

It is with sadness that we must inform the people of grand forks that on Sunday Morning, between 4am and 6am a known member of the community broke into the Battrick & Sons Locksmithing vehicle, stole coins, a set of keys/fobs, and a set of lock manipulation tools, please be vigilant in your observation of persons entering your premises, and report all suspicious activities to the RCMP.

A Report has been submitted to the RCMP and thus we are not naming the suspect at this time.

It’s been awhile since we posted an update,

Today I want to announce an exciting development for our small business owners, and anyone looking for Sophisticated Access Control Solutions for small systems without having to shell out the big bucks for the standard system (often quoted, allegedly, between $10-$30k)

Battrick & Sons Locksmithing is proud to announce our partnership with Assa Abloy’s Centrios program, allowing us to sell a first in market small scale access control solution for businesses requiring sophisticated access for 50 or less doors(systems exceeding 50 doors are recommended to have a full access control system set up)

This is exciting for us as locksmith as it is one of the first steps by our industry to bring locksmiths into the access control market without having a specific licensing requirement or investment in access control hardware and tools that often make it untenable for the average small business locksmith.

A commonly requested item is key hiders for vehicles, with the rise of Smart Keys, also called Proximity Keys, or generically a ‘fob’, the traditional magnetic plastic hide a key are insufficient as they have no means of stopping the proximity functions of your key/vehicle from interacting.

Sterlings arms are a little tired but he managed to fly back in from Toronto from his BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen Auto Group Advanced Locksmith training course.
