This past weekend, we had the opportunity to join the celebration of a project that means a great deal to our community and to our industry.

The Golden Pedestrian Bridge turned 25 this year. At 46 metres across, it remains the longest freestanding timber frame bridge in Canada. What makes it special is not just the scale, 72,000 feet of Douglas fir and a superstructure weighing approximately 210,000 lbs, but the story behind it. In 2001, over 100 members of the Timber Framers Guild traveled from across Canada, the United States, and Europe to raise it together.

Canadian Timberframes was proud to be part of that effort. Twenty-five years later, the bridge still stands as a symbol of what this community and this industry can accomplish when it works together.

Imagine admiring the change of seasons through these beautiful window walls 🍂

This is Blacktail Overlook, a 7,050 sq. ft. contemporary residence sitting atop a Montana mountain. The architects designed the home to leverage the landscape, with floor-to-ceiling windows on every side bringing the surroundings into every corner of the space. From the inside, the landscape extends to the interior.

The home includes four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, a spa, and a great room built for both quiet evenings and larger gatherings. A wraparound patio and three-car garage extend the footprint outward..

Construction update on this custom timber frame residence in British Columbia. 🏗️

The framing is complete, and the posts and rafters are secured; the curved angles of the roof make this 760 sq. ft. residence a unique project.

Our job is to make sure that ambition translates into components that are well-crafted and practical to build with on-site, and Island Village Builders has done an excellent job bringing it together.

The living room at this Kootenay Chalet was designed to feel open and connected to its surroundings. Dark timber tones overhead, light walls and furniture below a balance that keeps the space warm without feeling heavy. The kind of room that makes it hard to leave.
