Demo is essentially house surgery. On this project, we are removing one half of the house so that we can accommodate a new addition with some necessary improvements.

Bringing heavy equipment into the picture definitely makes the process more intense. Carful attention to detail is key when preparing the remaining structure so it remains protected from both debris as well as water infiltration.

Buildings need to DRY! The reason leaky century homes are century old homes is largely because they’ve had the ability to dry.

Now, of course, that drying comes at a cost as the trying mechanism is the interior you’ve paid to heat. As it bleeds through the enclosure, it takes moisture with it.

When we make enclosure upgrades for comfort and efficiency, we need to understand the materials we’re using and where we are using them.

CONDITIONED CRAWL SPACE | Serviceability is key and a a conditioned crawl space is an excellent way to provide full access for the life of a home.

A conditioned crawl space is also a great place to stash ductwork within the building enclosure.

One of the reasons old buildings are still standing is because they are relatively uncomfortable to live in. When we make comfort upgrades to these buildings we can’t simply add insulation and call it a day.
