We've been building beautiful log and timber homes, structures (gazebos/entrances/benches/secondary dwellings) and commercial & community projects on the Sunshine Coast since 1998. About the Opportunity
Currently, Dakota Ridge Builders has an exciting opportunity for Yard Hand to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be working along side our Operations Manager.

The Yard Hand operates, services and maintains yard equipment by inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing small engines, electric and pneumatic tools. The Yard Hand is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Operating tower crane includes working at heights. Due to the hazards associated with operating heavy equipment, this position places special prohibitions on working while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or prescribed medications and the use of handheld devices such as cell phones, etc.

Some of your key responsibilities within this role will include:
• Operation and maintenance of yard equipment—Bobcat, Sawmill, Dump truck, and Tower and Mobile Cranes (successful completion of online test for crane certification will need to be obtained post-hire)
• Basic maintenance and inventory of a large fleet of power tools, scaffolding and hand tools
• Documenting and filing machinery and tool maintenance logs and material inventories
• Shipping and receiving and material handling
• Site maintenance: pressure washing, minor building repairs, and general upkeep and inspection
• Providing regular deliveries and waste removal with a truck and trailer
• Perform occasional construction labouring duties as needed at various sites

More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you’ll need:
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license, dependable vehicle and clean driver’s abstract
• Experience driving a truck while towing a trailer
• Physical ability to safely lift, carry and manipulate heavy objects such as construction material and supplies the organization and flexibility to maintain scheduled duties while also handling daily on demand tasks
• Ability to prioritize and problem solve
• Communication, team orientation and accountability but also self-motivation and independence
• The ability to systematize and streamline lists of tasks
• The ability and aptitude to work effectively with limited oversight
• Travel to off-site locations is required
• Hazards associated with working in an outdoor industrial setting with exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, inclement weather, rust, chemicals and other substances
• Overtime as required

Previous equipment operation skills and mechanical skills are highly recommended but onsite training will be provided to promising applicants. Compensation will reflect the applicant’s skills on employment.

Currently, DRB has an exciting opportunity for Apprentice, Journeymen & Lead Carpenters to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be working along side our project manager & foremen to complete one of a kind custom builds for our clients.

Key Responsibilities include:
• Follow blueprints & building plans to meet the needs of clients in accordance with the BC Building Code & engineer specifications
• Install structures and fixtures, such as windows & molding
• Measure, cut, or shape wood, drywall & other materials
• Construct building frameworks, including wall studs, floor joists & doorframes, truss & roof install
• Help erect, level, & install building framework with the aid of large pulleys & cranes
• Inspect & replace damaged framework or other structures & fixtures
• Instruct & direct laborers & other construction trade helpers
Lead Carpenter:
• Ensure safety of crew member
• Carry out tasks appointed by the foreman
• Ensure crew members are productive and report deficiencies to foreman
• Interpretation of plans & specifications
• Layout foundation, building lines & anchor points
• Shoot elevations & grades
• Erect forms, monitor pour regarding depressed areas
• Wood framing
• Hang wood doors & install hardware
• Install millwork trim & cabinets
• Receive materials & off-load in a safe and proficient fashion
• Assist & guide others to improve their skills & complete tasks in an efficient manner
• Prepare to perform job related assignments at designated start time
• Perform daily tasks in a safe and workman-like manner in accordance with company policies
• Oversee on-site quality control of both in-house & sub-trade work
• Cost control
• Clearly explain steps, provide clear directions & answer questions about construction processes to crew members and subcontractors
• Client satisfaction

About You
In order to qualify for this role, you’ll need:
• Knowledge of BC Building Code
