Now Hiring: General Manager – Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan Inc. (Nedaak)

Ne-Daa-Kii-Me-Naan Inc. is seeking a General Manager to lead our growing First Nation-owned forest management company based in Geraldton, Ontario.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will oversee forest management planning, silviculture operations, business development, and collaboration with First Nations partners, industry, and government stakeholders. This role is key to ensuring the long-term sustainable management of the Kenogami Forest while supporting economic growth for our communities.

We are looking for a strong leader with management experience, knowledge of forest operations, and a commitment to working respectfully with First Nation communities and partners.

-Full-time Permanent
- Salary: $100,000 – $125,000 + comprehensive benefits

Fun Forestry Facts Friday! 😁🌲

We hope that everyone enjoyed their summer, and Nedaak’s Fun Forestry Facts Friday Series! I enjoyed sharing some cool/unique facts about our Forests, some of them even new to myself! I look forward to sharing more next year, and hope to bring back this series again next Summer!

One last Fun Forestry Fact:
In Northern Ontario, winter brings unique opportunities for harvesting! Frozen ground and thick snow cover create temporary roadways, known as “winter roads”, allowing access to remote areas that are otherwise inaccessible during other seasons! This enables sustainable forestry practices by minimizing environmental impact and preserving sensitive ecosystems while facilitating the extraction of valuable wood resources!

Did you know that the first Canadian Labour Day was celebrated on April 15, 1872, (152 years ago!!) and it was initially organized to support striking workers in the printing industry who were demanding an eight-hour workday. This early Labour Day was a significant step in the movement for workers' rights and eventually evolved into the September holiday we know today, which marks the end of summer and celebrates workers' contributions. 🥳🎉

Fun Forestry Facts Friday! 😁🌲

Northern Ontario is one of the few places in Canada where you can find wolverine in the wild. These elusive and tenacious creatures roam the remote forests, adapting to the harsh conditions of the boreal environment. Another animal that can be found in the boreal forest is the Wolf. Wolves are an integral part of the boreal ecosystem in Northern Ontario. The region supports healthy wolf populations, playing a vital role in maintaining the balance of prey species like deer and moose. Hearing the haunting howl of a wolf echoing through the forest is an unforgettable experience!
