Today’s post is a shout out to my youngest, Rocco Freeze Wheaton! Over a year ago he decided to enter his art in the Art Exhibit, Art on The Bridge, located in Fredericton on the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge. He designed a series of birds called “Funney Birds” yes that’s how a 9 year old spelled it at the time. Now a year later, over 200 paintings sold, he has become well known in our city for painting funny birds with watercolours. He now does live painting for people and commissions on the spot. He always has done “pay what you want” making it accessible to everyone. As the Market season ends, we would like to send out a huge thank you for everyone that has supported Rocco. So lately I’ve started doing PAY WHAT YOU WANT at my market shows. It’s a bit of a gamble, letting your art go for whatever the buyer wants to give and honestly I was a bit nervous. What I do love about it, is seeing the joy in people when they realize that the art can be theirs, at any cost. Pros of Pay What You Want:
-Art is accessible to everyone
-It brings people to the booth and allows them to look at my other art
-allows me create without stress
-moves old inventory out and makes room for new creations (although now it’s all new art)
-put my art on your walls
