Information Drop:

Common issue I have seen from clients who had a contractor come in and do work and then it fails.

Particle Board underlayment can NOT be used for an underlay/membrane for a tile floor.

Particle Board can NOT be used as a substrate if coming into direct contact with mortar. Mortar is wet, and can seep into the board causing the board to turn to mush.
