Some moments in life change you forever, even if they start with something as simple as a stubborn gas torch.
Most people who meet me today see KANAN Plumbing as just a local plumbing and gas fitting business. What they do not always see is the family behind it. I was raised with strong family values and now I have five kids, a dog, a snake, and a few fish that keep life interesting. If I am not fixing something, I am usually out with the kids or somewhere outdoors catching my breath between the chaos.
I moved to Fort Saskatchewan when I was five. Life took me from the Fort to the farm and around Edmonton. Twelve years ago, I found my way home again. This community helped raise me and it still shapes who I am and how I show up for people.
Starting my own company was a once in a lifetime chance given by a home builder, who liked my work and wanted me to plumb their 4 in-fills. I took the leap because I want to help raise my family and watch them grow up. I choose honesty and family over shortcuts and volume. At KANAN Plumbing, the promise is simple. From the first call you become family. Your home is treated the same way I treat my own families.
One customer moment will stay with me forever. This one lady had multiple companies come over the years, for other issues, but she would ask them to look at her outdoor gas torch while they were there. Nobody could or would get her torch to light. After a quick cleaning, I turned it on, and the flame came alive. She broke down crying. Her husband had suffered a stroke, her daughters backyard wedding was coming fast, and everything in the house was failing at once. The relief on her face brought me to tears too. I still get warm fuzzies when I think about it.
My dream for the future is bigger than plumbing. One day I want to offer a free (parts and labor) plumbing visit for people who just need one win in their life. This community has given me so much. I want to give back in a way that actually matters.
If you have lived in the Fort or the surrounding area for a long time, what is one thing you love most about this community?
