Today, we locked our front door for the last time.
Nearly 10 years ago, we took a leap of faith and opened Absolute Serendipity. We had no idea where that decision would lead us, or how many incredible people we would meet along the way.
What started as a small independent business became so much more than we ever imagined.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of helping with first homes, forever homes, nurseries, kitchens, furniture makeovers, and countless DIY projects. We’ve helped choose paint colours, wrapped gifts, shared decorating ideas, talked about plants, and spent countless hours chatting about life. Somewhere along the way, many customers became friends.
We’ve watched families grow, welcomed new faces to Fort McMurray, celebrated milestones, and shared in your excitement as projects came to life. Being trusted to play even a small part in those moments has meant more to us than you’ll ever know.
Like every small business, there were good years and incredibly difficult ones. Through floods, a pandemic, wildfire smoke, evacuations, economic uncertainty, and everything in between, this community continued to support us. You gave us every reason to keep showing up each day, and for that, we will always be grateful.
To everyone who chose to shop local instead of a big box store… thank you.
To everyone who recommended us to a friend… thank you.
To everyone who trusted our advice, attended an event, followed us online, or simply stopped in to say hello… thank you.
To our incredible staff, thank you for your loyalty, hard work, kindness, and friendship. You helped shape Absolute Serendipity into the store it became, and it has been an absolute privilege to work alongside you. I will always be grateful for each and every one of you.
As we close this chapter, what we’ll take with us isn’t the shelves, the paint, or the building.
It’s the people.
Thank you for allowing Absolute Serendipity to be a small part of your homes, your projects, and your lives over the past decade. We hope that, in some small way, we made them a little more beautiful.
