When your brick & stucco aren’t managing water effectively, that water gets stored in the wood. 💧⛔️

That’s why, with any renovation or new home build, water and air tightness matter.

Renovating an older home? This is exactly the kind of thing we check for before it becomes a problem. 📧 [email protected]

You can only ignore a problem like this for so long. 🌧️

This home featured a flat roof around the back & side, but over time, water leakage became a problem that we could no longer avoid. If there’s one thing we tell homeowners, it’s that these problems don’t get cheaper or smaller the longer you leave them.

Dealing with something similar in an older home? Let’s talk it through and figure out what’s achievable.

Craftsmanship can’t be rushed. 🪵

Honour the material, respect the process, and build something that lasts.

The most time-consuming part of this whole renovation? The rot we couldn’t see coming. 🪵

Once the stucco came off, it went deep, into the sheathing and the structural framing behind it.

On an old house, hidden problems aren’t a maybe, they’re a given. The job is being ready to fix every one you find.

We’re growing our crew. 🔨

At Tucker Homes, our carpentry is in-house, which means you’re joining a real team, not bouncing between subs. People who know your name, take pride in the work, and build custom homes worth caring about together.

Apprentice or experienced, if you sweat the details and want to be part of a crew like that, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply at tuckerhomes.ca/careers or send your resume to [email protected].

Another surprise, this time under the floor. ⬇️

We found concrete beneath the floor with framing built right up against it, unprotected. Back when this was originally done, that detail got skipped, and over the years it led to rot in the framing.

Between bulk water running down the outside and condensation from the inside, the rim joist ended up in rough shape. So we’re breaking out the concrete and replacing the floor framing around it.

The unglamorous fixes are the ones that keep a home standing for another hundred years. 📧 [email protected]
