Most people know this, but in case you don’t, stay 50+ feet away.

Do NOT cross over them, do NOT drive over them, do NOT use long sticks to try to move them, do NOT mess with them in any way. You will die.

If you see a downed wire, call it in.

We’ve created incredibly dangerous infrastructure for our fragile modern lives. Keep yourself safe.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

UK joins Iceland and New Zealand in Taxing EV cars for every rotation of the wheel.
Iceland: EVs are charged ISK6 per km, implemented since January 2024.
New Zealand: EVs are charged NZ$0.076 per km (equivalent to the rate for light diesel vehicles), implemented since April 2024.
Australia is in the process of introducing a national per-km charge (proposed at around 2.97 cents per km for EVs) expected to be brought in during the 2025 Christmas holidays. Victoria is already charging the EV Tax, Netherlands and Israel are considering it but have delayed the scheme and opted for flat annual fees instead.
In Canada, Alberta: Implements a flat annual $200 tax on fully electric vehicles, effective which commenced February 13, 2025,
Saskatchewan: Charges a flat annual road use fee of $150 for electric vehicles (Class LV), which increased to $300 effective June 1, 2025.
Quebec: Plans to introduce a flat annual fee starting in 2027—$125 for battery-electric vehicles and $62.50 for plug-in hybrids.

In NZ, the total EV registrations market share fell from around 14-20% in 2023 to 5-8% in 2024 with the introduction of the mileage Tax. If the UK EV market follows the NZ market, the current EV sales in the UK of 469,000 vehicles, could drop down to approximately 130,000 to 170,000 vehicles after the mileage tax becomes official. The worst part about the EV mileage tax is that a vehicle owner must present their vehicle to a Taxing office every 3 months to have the mileage recorded and pay the tax, failure to pay the tax, the government can electronically disable your vehicle, leaving you without a vehicle.
