I am amazed how some plats survive and thrive even under the most harsh conditions. These are examples of amazing survivors all of these blooms are growing out of the cracks in my patio! Hello Again, Delaporte Garden Glass Friends and Family. These pictures are not the best But I wanted to talk about arboring lilacs. I have done this several times and they make beautiful gifts and look fantastic in the garden. The first pictures shows a lilac that I planted last year. Even though it is rather sparse, it sprouted a huge root sprout (actually there were a few). To prepare the bush for severing the sprouts I watered the plant for a few hours the day before, giving the ground a good soaking. Then I prepared a pot of very moist potting soil to store the severed sprouts in temporarily, and of course some potting soil mixed with good soil and wetted thoroughly. I dug the sprouts until most of their roots were exposed then cut the sprouts of the main plants roots system. I them put them in the wet potting soil and transplanted the two best root sprouts into the waiting moist pots. Because it has been so hot and so dry. I am storing the potted plants in the shade and using a fertilizer with water to give the plants a chance to develop a extensive root system before I plant them in a temporary home. It has been a couple of days and both sprouts are doing well. Once the plants start to grow next year, I will clean off all the lower branches (right now leaves) and start the branching to form an upright ball. I am hoping for success! , , , , , ,

Good Morning Delaporte Garden Glass Friends and Family. It has been a busy week and i am just getting caught up with the recent blooms. The Day Lilies are almost done and it is sad to see them go. They bring such beauty to the garden in the last two weeks of July and the first weeks of August. But there is plenty to celebrate with the flowers that Sean planted along with the standard blooms of the perennials. I hope you enjoy. I do!!!!! , , , , , , , ,

Hello again Delaporte Garden Glass Friends and Family. Here are some photos of the depression glass sculptures in the new garden along the fence. The garden is planted with a combination of evergreens, perennials, and annuals that my son Sean planted seeds for. The Glass art really enjoys the company of the blooming flowers and looks more at home surrounded by them. I hope you enjoy! , , , , , , , , ,

Good Day Delaporte Garden Glass Friends and Family. I hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer. This was always my favorite time of the year as we always vacationed at a beautiful lake (and the water was as warm as it was going to get)! I have included a photo of the Lavender we planted earlier this season as seeds. These plants will extend the planting of Lavender that I currently have. the plants are small so they might be hard to see. I also included a photo of the Cedars I planted this spring. Hi Delaporte Garden Glass Friends and Family. It is another hot dry day here in Erin, Ontario. Hello Delaporte Garden Glass Friends and Family. Today I was tremendously helped by my son Sean. We pruned some trees, cut some down that were killed by the ash borer. The biggest task was pruning the knot. It looks pretty good, even after being hit by the boxwood moth-caterpillar. I let it grow after the incident so it has been looking ratty. But with Sean's help it is back to being glorious! , , , , , , , , , ,
