A squeaky door hinge is a small job that somehow never gets done. It's not urgent, just annoying enough that everyone in the house notices and nobody deals with it.

Most of the time it's dry metal, and a drop of the right lubricant on the pin fixes it in under a minute. Sometimes the hinge is worn out or the door has shifted slightly, and it needs adjusting instead of oiling.

Cracks in drywall usually mean one of a few things, and only some of them are serious.

- Seasonal settling, where the house shifts slightly as it heats and cools, especially near doorways and windows

- Tape or mud that wasn't applied properly during the original build, showing up years later as a hairline crack along a seam

- A door or window slightly out of square, putting stress on the corner of the wall

- Actual foundation movement, usually paired with a crack that's wider at one end than the other, or runs diagonally from a corner

If a crack is thin and consistent, it's probably cosmetic. If it's growing, wider at one end, or showing up alongside a door that sticks, that's worth a second look.

Wind and hail don't always leave damage that's obvious from the ground. A missing shingle or two, dented siding, or a soffit that took a hit can go unnoticed for weeks until it turns into a bigger problem, water getting in where it shouldn't.

After a storm rolls through, it's worth doing a walk around your property. Check your siding for dents or cracks, look at your fence and any exterior fixtures, and glance at your roofline if you can see it safely from the ground.

Behind every bathroom wall there's waterproofing, a sloped drain, and a fan that vents outside. At minimum!

Get any of those wrong, and you won't notice until the shower wall goes soft or the drain starts backing up, usually a year or two after the reno wrapped.

We can fix that. Dog eating baseboard? We've seen it plenty.

Chewed corners, scratched trim, gouged door frames, pet damage is one of the most common small repairs we get called for, and it's usually a quicker fix than people expect. Matching trim, filling and sanding damage, or replacing a section outright can all be handled in a single visit in most cases.
