🚪 Doors are what we do for a living.

But a day like yesterday is a reminder that what a business chooses to stand behind matters just as much as the work itself. 💙

⛳ We set up shop at our sponsored hole at the 9th Annual KDM Management Charity Golf Tournament, keeping golfers fed and watered 🥤🍫 while the weather couldn't make up its mind.
☀️ Sunny, then 🌥️ grey, then 🌧️ a bit of rain, then back to ☀️ sunny.

We showed up because we believe in what KDM Helping Hands does.
For years, they've quietly filled gaps for children and families around Edmonton 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, the kind of help that does not make headlines but changes someone's week.

Weatherstripping doesn't get a lot of attention in summer. It probably should.

Three reasons it's worth a look right now:

🚪 The install goes smoother when it's warm out. Cold stiffens the material and makes it tougher to seat properly. The window for a clean job is open right now.

🚪When seals fit properly, cooled air stays inside. The savings show up on the utility bill before they show up anywhere else.

Heavy wind kept blowing a commercial front door open during business hours. The only piece of hardware on it: a flip-up bolt, meant for end of night.

A heavier closer wouldn't have addressed the wind. Using the bolt during the workday wasn't an option either, that locks out the customers we want walking in.

So we built around what was actually happening. The hardware we added holds the door against wind pressure, but it doesn't bolt anything down. Customers push through and walk in like nothing changed. The flip-up bolt still does its job at close, exactly as before.

If a door problem exists, a solution does too.
Question is who you ask⁉️. , some of us have it right in the name.😎

None of these should be on a -rated .

Quick fixes have a way of becoming permanent problems.

Take this generator enclosure, it needed a custom-built lock housing, not the basic padlock that had been holding it shut.
Same story with this perimeter gate: a proper engineered lockbox where a chain had been doing the job.

Outdoor enclosures, perimeter gates, utility access points, mechanical rooms, these are the spots where standard hardware just doesn't hold up.

The loading bay man door does a lot of work in a day.

We removed a revolving door from the front of a commercial building, put in a fixed glass wall in its place, and let the two existing side doors take over the daily entry duty.
Same opening, fewer moving parts, cleaner look.
