At CKB, we take care of People in our Communities. This usually means we're rehabilitating ineffective or worn out water & sewer infrastructure to strengthen our Communities both for today and for future generations.

This week we took on a more immediate threat to our community. With all the recent rain events, the Sturgeon River has been expanding beyond its normal boundaries as it winds through the City of St. Albert. Our people switched from their other projects to build flood mitigation measures along the north bank of the river. A job done well and completed quickly to take care of people in that community!

CKB is pleased to congratulate our Safety Coordinator Jaelyn Shaw-Kinsey on achieving the National Health & Safety Administrator (NHSA) designation through the ACSA-Alberta Construction Safety Association! We're proud of all our people and happy to celebrate their achievements.

Jaelyn was out with our crews last week to help our front-line workers perform mock drills at our active sites. These mock drills are critical components of our safety program, helping our people know how to respond to an emergency situation and how to properly use our emergency rescue equipment.

We kicked off the 2026 season in the best way possible. We had the full CKB team gathered for our Startup BBQ last Friday. Even though many of our crews have already been out in the ground getting an early start to the season, this was our chance to bring everyone together, welcome new faces, refresh our safety practices, celebrate long‑service achievements, and enjoy time as a team before things get even busier.

At CKB, taking care of People in our Communities isn’t just something we say , it’s something our frontline teams live every day. Whether it’s helping a neighbour with groceries, assisting seniors across busy intersections, or making sure garbage bins are placed for pickup, our crews show what community care looks like in real time.
