Our team had a great few days connecting across Alberta ⛳️

From the Professional Young Insurance Brokers Golf Tournament in Red Deer to the Order of the Blue Goose events by The Honorable Order of the Blue Goose, International - Alberta Pond and Edmonton Pond, we had the opportunity to engage with so many incredible professionals in the insurance industry.

These conversations are especially meaningful as our Professional Insurance Career programs prepare job-ready candidates with industry-recognized certifications, including GLQP Level 1 and LLQP, along with the essential workplace skills needed to succeed in the industry.

Last Friday, some members of our Edmonton team participated in trauma-informed training, deepening our understanding of trauma, its impacts, and how we can thoughtfully apply this knowledge in the work we do. A full circle moment worth celebrating🧡

As part of our very first WERC cohort in Edmonton, Skye came in with a passion for hands-on labour work and a curiosity to explore new opportunities. From day one, he noticed the details, especially the classroom space designed and installed by RGO. From the comfortable chairs to the bright colours and the homey, welcoming feel it created, the space stood out to him.

Today, Skye is now part of RGO’s installation team, helping build the very spaces that future WERC participants will learn and grow in.

This is what the WERC program is all about, creating real opportunities for participants to pursue their passions and build meaningful pathways into the workforce.

Our Senior Manager, Consulting Colin Critch attended the sod-turning ceremony as Canoe Lake Cree First Nation officially broke ground on their new truck stop just east of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. This project represents a meaningful step forward in supporting long-term economic growth and opportunity in the community.

Our Senior Associate Asad Bhatti joined Jordan Asels from Ndeh Limited Partnership as a speaker at the 2026 Canadian Housing and Renewal Association Conference.

Together, they shared insights on building housing in Northern Alberta for Indigenous communities, from climate and disaster resilience to long-term durability and local construction models that support greater development control and a circular economy.

We were especially excited to highlight our partnership with Ndeh LP, where Ballad is supporting the planning and development of new housing in High Level. This project will deliver a range of housing options, including apartments, single detached homes, and alternative housing types, designed to improve affordability and meet diverse community needs.

Our WERC Red Deer participants were excited to be working on building the new summer patio at State & Main!

This hands-on experience allowed participants the opportunity to apply their simulated worksite training in a practical setting, building valuable construction and carpentry skills they can carry into the workforce.

A huge thank you to Reegan Holdal and Jaiden Bisonette from Ember Mechanical for coming down from Edmonton and mentoring our participants throughout the build. 🧡
