Today, we take time to reflect, to learn, and to listen.

At A&H Steel, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and honour the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and the children who never returned home.

The work we do connects us with people and communities across Western Canada. With those connections comes the importance of understanding our shared history and continuing to learn from the Indigenous Peoples and communities around us.

Today, we wear orange and take time to reflect on the role each of us can play in moving reconciliation forward. 🧡

We were excited to spend the evening at Gold Bar School, handing out pencils during their Meet the Teacher event! ✏️ We kicked off our Adopt-a-School initiative and had a great opportunity to meet some of the students and families in the Gold Bar community. We look forward to continuing to build this partnership and supporting the school throughout the year! 🍎

Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion | 121 Street Bridge Moment Slabs

Not all of the most important work on a bridge is visible once construction is complete.

At the 121 Street Bridge, our crews are installing the reinforcing steel for the moment slabs and barrier walls. Moment slabs are reinforced concrete slabs that anchor the traffic barriers and safely transfer the forces of a vehicle impact into the bridge structure, helping protect both drivers and the bridge itself.

Since beginning work in May, our team has been installing approximately 80 tonnes of stainless steel reinforcing and 160 tonnes of Grade 400W reinforcing steel. This work is helping improve Edmonton’s infrastructure and support more efficient travel throughout the city.

100,000 Hours Without a Lost-Time Incident 👷‍♂️🦺

A major milestone for our A&H Steel team at Woodfibre LNG: 100,000 hours worked without a lost-time incident!

That number represents much more than hours on a timesheet. It represents 100,000 hours of safety-conscious decisions: looking out for one another, following procedures, using the right equipment, reporting hazards and unsafe conditions, communicating with our crews and other trades, and speaking up when something doesn’t look right.

This achievement didn’t happen by luck. It reflects the commitment of our workers and supervisors to following our Safety Management System and working together to keep safety at the forefront every day.

This milestone belongs to everyone who contributed: our workers, supervisors, equipment operators, maintenance and safety personnel, management, and everyone who has taken the time to look out for someone else.

100,000 hours. One team. A shared commitment to safety. 💪👏

🏗️ Project Update - Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion | 127 Street Bridge – Deck Slab

Another milestone for our team on the Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion, a $1+ billion City of Edmonton project. Our team has completed the installation of approximately 80 tonnes of stainless steel reinforcing for the 127 Street Bridge deck slab. 💪

Great work by everyone involved. We look forward to sharing more updates as the project moves forward!

Lunch delivery day! 🥪🚧
We recently had the chance to get out of the office and deliver lunch to our crews working across several of our project sites. It’s always great to spend some time in the field, connect with our teams, and show a little appreciation for the hard work they put in every day. A big thank you to everyone in the field for everything you do to keep our projects moving forward. We hope you enjoyed lunch! 👏

Steel Spotlight: Westbank's Butterfly

Some job sites come with a view... and then there's the Butterfly.

Rising 57 storeys above Vancouver's West End, this striking luxury tower stands as one of the city's most recognizable additions to the skyline. A&H Vancouver was proud to be part of the project from the ground up, completing our final scopes two years ago.

Looking back, it's hard to beat the views our crews had while helping bring this iconic 6,000-metric-ton structure to life.
