Went out to a customer unit today to complete a service on his excavator. Oil cap missing, fuel cap was off and the hydraulic tank vent cap completely MIA. The operator used his first aid kit to help keep the hydraulic oil in the tank.

Huston we have a problem! This is a crack in the frame of a telehandler, just ahead of the rear axle. It is probably the strongest part of the frame as it literally takes the entire leveraged load in a lift! The unit is rated for 10,000 lbs and stretches 56 feet, there are overload safety sensors and devices throughout the machine and this is my customer so we can guarantee they are all in tact and work. The only explanation to the injury is a defect or metal fatigue.
