Edmonton's annual elm pruning ban helps protect one of our most valuable tree species from Dutch Elm Disease. Fresh pruning wounds can attract the beetles responsible for spreading the disease, which is why waiting until October is so important.

If you have been planning fall yard work, add your elm pruning to your October checklist instead.
