This white spruce hung way out over the neighbours yard. Some careful rigging on multiple lines brought it safely back into the yard

Tent caterpillars lay their eggs between June - August.

The eggs are laid in groups of 150 to 350 and encased in a frothy substance that hardens into a shiny Styrofoam-like material, forming a dark brown or gray band that straddles or encircles twigs of susceptible trees.

In the spring, as soon as leaves open, the eggs hatch into young caterpillar larvae that make communal tent webs.

In June or July, the caterpillars cover themselves in cocoons.

The cocoons may be found on tree trunks, fences, debris, and beneath sheltered areas like raised plant boxes. About 10 days later, the adult moth will come out of its cocoon and mate within 24 hours.

The female immediately begins to lay eggs for the next spring, producing only one generation of tent caterpillars every year.

Tent caterpillar outbreaks are periodic, but do not happen on an exact schedule because they depend on several environmental and biological factors.

Although they seldom kill the infested tree, these caterpillars can cause severe damage, often nearly defoliating the entire tree.

If damage is minor and the tree is healthy, the tree can bud again later in the summer. However, repeated defoliation can weaken trees and make them more susceptible to other types of stress

🌳🌳Help your trees and shrubs to thrive, not just survive, Deep Root Fertilise!!🌳🌳

It's that time of year when EcoArb Tree Solutions completes its Spring Deep Root Fertilising Service.

Our short growing season and heavy clay soil make spring deep root fertilisation especially effective:

🌳Maximum Efficiency: Nutrients are injected directly into the root zone, bypassing thick turf grass that usually steals surface fertiliser.

🌳Specially Made: Specifically formulated just for trees and shrubs with all the macro- and micronutrients needed for healthy growth.

🌳Soil Aeration: The pressurized injection breaks up the dense, compacted clay common in prairie yards, allowing roots to "breathe" and absorb water better.

🌳Rapid Recovery: It provides an immediate energy boost to repair winter damage and fuel the intense burst of spring growth required in our short summers.

🌳Drought Resistance: Encourages deeper root systems that are better equipped to handle the dry, hot July and August heat.

🌳Pest Defense: A nutrient-rich tree is naturally more resilient against common local pests like aphids and scale.

🌳Bottom Line: It’s a specialised "multivitamin" that overcomes the harsh prairie environment to ensure your trees don't just survive, but thrive!
