As that glorious sun shines down today in Edmonton, we are reminded that summer is not too far away! Soon enough we will begin the process of "waking up" all of our clients' beautiful water features for the season. Beginning of the year maintenance and start up is an important part of ensuring your water feature lasts for many years to come.

This is one of our favourites. It combines magnificent natural stone with a variety of plant life, evoking the feel of an untamed creek. It brings the wild right into our client's backyard. And those flamingos are a fun touch!

Now that's a theme! This project was a fun one. The enclosed gazebo was already existing, so we designed the water feature and landscaping around that starting point, creating a zen garden type of feel.

This yard really packs a punch. You round the corner and you just weren't quite expecting this. It's visually stunning, ridiculously relaxing, and includes some koi friends!

We do love us some water features! It’s a special treat for us when the ponds we create and maintain have fish friends! Koi are a remarkable personable fish – once they are used to people they are easily handfed and love to interact with you and check out what you’re up to!

Fun fact – in Japan, where the koi originates, there are koi shows (think dog show but with koi). It can be a very expensive hobby for those who are competitive- a few years ago one koi was bought for a whopping 1.8 million dollars and went on to win the top spot at the 2017 All Japan Koi Show!

Here are a few of our favourite koi friends – we are always mesmerized by their beautiful colours. It never gets old!

Have you given thought to what you want your water feature to look like at different times of the day? Listening to the calming effects of water is not just for daytime.

What kind of vibe do you want when sharing laughs with friends turns daylight into dusk, or when you and the doggo catch some soul-soothing late night cuddles in your favourite outdoor chair?
