Taking the time to properly prep the surface, by patching, sanding, and cleaning, makes a noticeable difference in the appearance and longevity of a paint job because it creates a smooth foundation free of any dents, bumps, or holes that make the walls look beaten and worn. On top of that, cleaning the surface after ensures that it is free of dust and pollutants that negatively affect the binding ability of the primer or paint as well as its finish.
Seriously, it doesn’t take much to properly prep the surface, but it makes an astronomical improvement in the appearance and quality of the work!
