This one was a bit of a collaboration with a leading Northern Alberta solar contractor. They took care of the front end and design, Sure Electric installed this super flush, super clean system!

Although just under 8kW of DC nameplate capacity, this array had it all- multiple subarrays ,mixes of landscape and portrait orientation, and hot summer weather. Very proud of how tidy this one ended up!

Sure Electric is hellbent on capturing the sun for everyone!

EXCELLENT NEWS ON THE SOLAR FRONT! The city of Edmonton has reopened their solar rebates for existing AND new homes.

What does this mean?

Now, on top of getting up to $5,000 in rebates through the federal government, you can get an extra 40 cents per watt of your system covered by the city or 30 cents per watt on your new build, for thousands more in savings. Pair all of this with up to $40,000 in interest free financing through the Greener Homes federal incentive program, and offsetting your costs with solar has never been more economical.

The City is offering Edmonton homeowners $0.40/watt towards the cost of the system, which covers approximately 15% of the costs of going solar! Rebate stacking is allowed with Canada’s Greener Homes Grant program up to a maximum of 100% of the total investment made by the homeowner.

As time progresses, electrical panel brands such as Commander, Federal Pioneer and many others have become obsolete and are no longer manufactured. Pair this with seemingly ongoing supply chain issues, and old breakers become difficult to source, and in many cases not available. This results in costly and time consuming repairs for what could be an otherwise simple service call.

Other issues that arise with archaic distribution equipment are things like nuisance tripping, due to worn out breakers. On the opposite end of the nuisance tripping issue are breakers that do not trip at all. An age old electrical adage, that ironically is not funny at all is that "you can weld with some of these breakers". When a circuit breaker does not trip due to a fault, arcing occurs, causing electrical fires. Worse than this is increased hazard to your personal safety when a short occurs.

Updating your service to modern equipment mitigates the issues for maintainance, peace of mind with safety, and cleans up your space and leaves room for future equipment consideration as our homes become more automated and technology filled.

Nowadays, smart load centers are also an option. This feature allows you to monitor your power usage remotely at the level of each circuit breaker.
