There are so many gorgeous colours in bloom RIGHT NOW šŸ˜. The tulip season is normally short, but with this heat we are having, it will be even shorter. We still anticipate being open until May 20th, longer if we can.

Come explore over 350,000 tulips, enjoy their beautiful colours, take pictures, and pick a bouquet (for an additional $1.50/stem).

The Windmill has SOLD! It has gone to the most appropriate place...a tulip farm. If you are ever in the area, be sure to check out Sandhill Creek Flower Farm. https://www.facebook.com/share/14zPwVgMrt/

THE WINDMILL
Approximately 10-15 years ago, Herman began building a windmill, taking his inspiration from one in the village of Wellandport, but he was unable to finish it due to his untimely passing. In the summer of 2020, his widow Brenda reached out via social media to find someone who could finish it and auction it off, with funds going to a charity near and dear to Herman’s heart. It is now complete and time to find a home for this windmill.
Proceeds from the sale will go to 2 charities:
#1...Dunnville Christian School (where he was a bus driver for several years) and
#2....Dunnville Youth Impact Centre (he volunteered at DYIC and was a Board member).

Msg me if interested.

THE WINDMILL.... DUNNVILLE, ONT, CANADA

Approximately 10-15 years ago, Herman DeRuiter began building a windmill, taking his inspiration from one in the village of Wellandport. Unfortunately, Herman was unable to finish it, as he died unexpectedly in November of 2019. In the summer of 2020, his widow Brenda reached out via social media to find someone who could finish it and auction it off, with funds going to a charity near and dear to Herman’s heart. Ed Hoekstra was found to be willing to take on this project. It is now complete and time to find a home for this windmill.
The two charities that will be recipients of this sale are Dunnville Christian School (where he was a bus driver for several years) and Dunnville Youth Impact Centre (Herman volunteered at DYIC and was a Board member at the time of his death). The winning bid will be divided equally with the funds going directly to the two charities.

Please note the following:
• Open House to see the windmill is scheduled for June 22, 9:30 a.m. till 12:00 p.m. at 508 Robinson Rd., Dunnville, Canada

• The bidding opens on June 24 at 9:00 a.m., and closes on July 5 at noon. Bids MUST be emailed to [email protected]. (we will not accept bids posted via this post). The highest bidder will be notified by a phone call before making it public. We will create an event for the bidding process.

• Progress of bids will be posted on Wednesday & Friday of the first week, and Monday and Wednesday of the second week (at the end of said days). The winning bid will be revealed no later than 9:00 p.m. on July 5, 2024.
• It will be the owner's responsibility to pick up the windmill.
• The windmill will need a cement base to be installed to rest on.
• Ed Hoekstra will help with the installation.
• There is a reserve bid.
• Between 200-300 hours have been spent on the windmill. It is unknown how much was spent on materials.

We are grateful for the opportunity to remember Herman and knowing two great charities in our community will benefit from this endeavour.

It's been over 3 1/2 years since it arrived in my shop.

Well, I have made a lot of progress in the last few weeks. The mechanics and the hub are finished, now on to the vanes.
