Finally had a chance to spray these exterior doors 🚪 for our lovely clients in Chemainus. They wanted to replace their existing doors with newer doors. Had my clients go to SB Windows and Doors and pick out the doors they wanted with the windows 🪟 of their choice.

Once they had everything picked out I took their old doors to SB Windows and Doors and had them machine and match the holes for the locks and handles as well as the new windows. They had it ready that day and I was able to ship the new doors back to my client’s home and install them that day.

After a couple of busy months on exterior season I was finally able to get back to finishing these doors. Clients wanted to match the same colour as their fence which was Benjamin Moore’s “Van Deusen Blue” on the exterior side in Benjamin Moore’s Command in a satin sheen. Was able to get two coats sprayed in a day then reinstall the locks and handles afterwards

Always remember to get samples tested out before you commit to buying your paints or stains. This helps visualize your colour choices before you purchase your paints and stains.

Had a chance to use the Sherwin-Williams’ Forte paint on these exterior doors and was impressed with how well it levelled, covered and how quickly it dried. I was able to apply two coats, mask everything, sand the doors, remove and install the hardware all in one day. Would definitely recommend this product.

Why should you use a stain for your decks as opposed to paint? You want a coating that will seal and protect the wood yet still allow it to breathe and not hold moisture.

When wood traps moisture it tends to get saturated which can lead to unfortunate conditions such as wet rot. Wet rot occurs when the moisture content sits above 50%. When wet rot occurs the wood can feel soft and spongey. When this occurs remove any rotten wood and apply fungicidal chemicals to remove any fungi from the surface.

Allow any wet would to dry out properly until you reach a moisture content with an average of 15%.

Benjamin Moore Woodluxe Stains are the products we used for these cedar stair treads.

Got the surface cleaner out while washing the exterior of this home. Cleaned up the paving stones and they came out fresh.

Using a surface cleaner is a great way to reduce dirt splattering everywhere and keeps the spray nozzles close enough to remove dirt from the surface without etching or damaging the surface.

These wooden stairs were worn down and needed to be replaced. I made some cedar stairs tread samples for the homeowners....

These wooden stairs were worn down and needed to be replaced. I made some cedar stairs tread samples for the homeowners. The samples were “Redwood” and “Bleached Grey” in a translucent stain and “Cedar” in a semi-transparent stain. The clients chose Bleached Grey as it complimented the colours of their deck and railing. We used Benjamin Moore’s Waterbased Woodluxe Translucent stain and pre-cut and sanded all of the new cedar treads with 80 grit sand paper with our orbital sander.

Was very impressed with how well the stain applied and how rich the colours are. Not only is this a great stain but it’s also seals the wood nicely as you can see in one of the pictures where the water beads off of the wood.
