Woodchip (from young branches, C/N ratio) spread season . Cowichan valley's winter is too warm for "sugar production". Leaves reached their maturity and animals in the soil need food and warmth. The chips should be digested (depending of quantity of life) as a soil behave like an inside out intestine (brew, dough, whey, panchgavya !...when temperature of soil > 10 C ) it will be ready to be seeded in Spring. Tillage not recommended in most case : Structure is the key for "cycles" to function. Conifer chips for established plants (terpene last a while), deciduous for annuals. And the ph doesn't matter. Ph from Tree of life's chips (thuya) and conifers are above 7. Or if animals need a litter, give us a shout for a load of woodchip.
