FLOORING
Our client wanted to install a new floating floor directly over their existing concrete slab. We started by installing DMX underlayment — the blue material you can see in the photos.

DMX is an excellent choice for this type of application. Its dimpled design creates an air space between the concrete and the flooring, helping manage moisture while also providing benefits for mold control, thermal insulation and sound reduction.

For the finished floor, we installed vinyl flooring, which is an excellent option for concrete slabs. It offers several advantages:

🔹 Flexible enough to accommodate minor variations and undulations in the concrete slab
🔹 Highly durable and impact resistant
🔹 Comfortable and practical for everyday use
🔹 Well suited to installation over concrete
🔹 Can be removed if necessary for future access or repairs

One of the biggest advantages in a basement environment is that, should a future flood occur, the vinyl flooring can be removed, cleaned and potentially reinstalled, rather than having to replace the entire floor.

BASEMENT RENO
We had a few clients call us back in April during the torrential rains and there basements were unfortunately flooded. Through the summer we squeezed their project into our schedule and renovated their basements back into good health.

Here is the beginning of one basement project in Pointe-Claire. Most of the demo was already completed by the homeowner. We cut out the remaining drywall and cleaned up the edges ready for new drywall installation.

FOUNDATION
Over the recent few months i’ve inspected homes with chimney clean out traps in basements with water stains and signs of water infiltration. We recently had the opportunity to explore this issue on a project, and finally identified where the leakage is coming from.

During construction of the foundation walls, the builder placed a large wooden dowel under the chimney in the foundation wall. This wooden dowel was left in place and over decades rotted away to leave a large open hole in the foundation wall. Seems crazy right, but that was the process.

So here we are, 50 years after its original construction with a large hole in the foundation wall. With our changing climate, increasing rainfall intensity, and overlooked landscaping levels around our homes, water is being directing back to the foundation walls and finding a way back into our homes.

With a little excavation, hydraulic cement patching and waterproof membrane we resolved this 50 year problem and restored this foundation back into good health.

PLUMBING
The drainage plumbing in this Pointe-Claire home was in need of replacement. The existing lines were slow to drain and frequently clogging. With the relocation of the basement bathroom we decided a complete replacement of the drainage system was the best decision.

We started by mapping out our new location of all plumbing fixtures, toilet, sink, shower, washing machine, and floor drain. We cut trenches in the concrete floor and then removed the concrete.

All new ABS drainage plumbing, backfilled and concrete poured, ready for the next phase of work.

LANDSCAPING
Oh the things we get done…. This has been a very busy year, with one project after another.

This was the begining of a home renovation in Pointe-Claire. The property needed a big clean up of unhealthy trees, all inspected and approved by our local municipality.

We hired the help of a very talented man who climbed and swung from the trees with grace and style. Every movement and cut of his chainsaw was inch perfect.

LAUNDRY ROOM
This summer we completely renovated our clients basement laundry room. This space was previously partially finished, dark, damp and un-insulated.

We’ve transformed this old dark space into a warm, bright space with lots of storage. Beautiful selection of colours and materials selected by our client.

DRYWALL + PLASTER
Our client shared some inspiration pictures of arches and asked if we could build them into the design. These custom arches have created an elegant feel to home and they’ve completely changed the entire interior design. We love them, such a great detail. Beautiful.
