This kitchen worked pretty great in the '80s, when the home was built.

Over time, it felt like the layout no longer functioned as intended. We took out the peninsula, and inserted a large island to accommodate more seating.

We also swapped the fridge and stove, allowing us to add a gorgeous range hood, and create a built-in coffee nook!

Built in the early 1980s, this farmhouse in Memramcook had dark wood ceilings, a solid brick fireplace, and slightly worn hardwood flooring.

So, do you tear them out? Absolutely not! 😱

These features are what give the home its character and charm. Instead of replacing them, we gave them new life with a little TLC. 🫶

In this case, while renovating a 1980s farmhouse in Memramcook, we embraced its' natural country-rustic charm.

Refurbished the hardwood. Leaned into the brick motif throughout. And we added the shiplap accent from the ceiling to the stairs.

Let's talk arches. They're one of the easiest ways to add character and a little visual intrigue to a home. And there's more than one way to use them.

Arched windows, doorways, even interior entryways. All stunning, and all majorly impactful on a home's vibe.

Done right, an arch elevates a whole space. But be careful where you put one. Arches can feel out of place in industrial or ultra-modern designs. They love a softer space.

What do you do when your focal point isn't placed totally symmetrically?

Designer Krina breaks down how we handled that exact problem in this Memramcook farmhouse renovation. We're all about practical, beautiful solutions the never overcomplicate.

In this case, we built in space for a sleek floor-to-ceiling firewood shelf. The black ties in well with the other room elements, and also provides a nice contrast with the soft hues of the wood!

This might be our favourite room in the entire Memramcook home reno. And it started as garage space.

The homeowner needed a mudroom. And a laundry room. And a powder room. Three rooms. Not a lot of space.

So we made one room do all three jobs.

The mudroom side has the bench, cubbies, and lockers. The laundry side has the machines, a sink, and a rod for clothes hanging. And then there's the powder room tucked right in. 🫶

The floor keeps the brick theme from the entryway, giving the space a seamless flow with the rest of the home.

The crazy thing is - we didn't need to build an addition to make this happen. We just borrowed from the space that was already there.
