We’re Hiring: Lead Garage Door Technician / Installer
📍 Leduc County + Area
💲 $34–$44/hr + Company Truck

We’re looking for someone who can run installs and service calls without being babysat.

If you’ve got real experience with residential garage doors and can troubleshoot on your own, this is a solid opportunity.

What you’ll be doing:
- Install and service residential overhead doors
- Diagnose and fix issues (springs, cables, operators, etc.)
- Run your own jobs and keep things moving
What you need:
- 3+ years experience (this is not a helper position)
- Valid driver’s license (clean abstract)
- Ability to work independently and show up consistently
What you get:
- Take-home company truck
- Paid training
- Boot allowance + bonuses
- Steady, year-round work

Based out of Leduc County. Some travel within Alberta (paid).

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

Friends and family will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work-life balance.

You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All the while being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed.

It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives.

Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

And know that 2023 prices are not 2024 prices.

Company Description:
- Fahselt Overhead Door Inc. specializes in the sales, installation, maintenance, and repair of residential, commercial, and agricultural overhead door systems. The company was incorporated in 2008 and has been growing steadily ever since. We pride ourselves on providing exemplary customer service, flexibility, and maintaining a personal touch that many larger companies may lack. Our goal is to accommodate customer timelines and provide superior service, resulting in a majority of our customers coming from referrals and returning for future services.

Duties include:
- Repairs, maintenance, and installation of residential, commercial, and industrial overhead doors and operators
- Diagnosing problems, providing solutions, and carrying out required work
- Strong focus on Safety, Quality, & Detail
- Assisting with customer service issues
- Assisting in training of new technicians as needed
- Typical work hours: 8 am - 5 pm, Monday to Friday, with the opportunity for on call and overtime
- The majority of clients are in Leduc County and surrounding municipalities
- Some travel is required throughout Alberta, meals & accommodations provided
- Truck provided

Requirements:
- At least 5 years servicing and installing residential and commercial overhead doors and operators
- A valid driver’s license and 5 year clean abstract
- D&A Testing for site access or post incident
- Physically capable of performing tasks (lifting, bending, lifting 80lbs, etc.)
- Excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills

Assets, but not required:
- Own basic hand & power tools
- CDI Certification
- Any relevant Safety Training/Certifications (CSTS, Elevated Work Platform, Fall Protection, First Aid, etc.)
- Carpentry, Construction, Mechanical, Millwright, Electrical, and/or Welding Skills

Compensation:
- $34 - $44/hr., depending on experience
- Boot allowance and other bonuses
- Paid Training
- Benefits negotiable

A Typical Day:
- Our Technicians are supplied a company vehicle which is taken home each night - no more commuting in your own vehicle burning expensive gas! You will use your company-supplied cell phone to call the office, who schedules your day from one customer job site to another. Periodic trips are made to the office and suppliers for parts and materials. You will perform installations, repairs, maintenance, and inspections. This position brings variety to your day!

- Must have good customer service, communication, and problem solving skills
- Must have steel-toed safety boots (or CSA equivalent)

Assets, but not required:
- Own basic Hand & Power Tools
- CDI Certification
- Safety tickets (fall arrest, lift operation, CSTS, First Aid, etc)
- Mechanically Inclined
- Construction Experience

Compensation:
- Competitive wage of $28-$34/hr depending on experience
