BANGING PIPES? Here's What Might Be Causing It!

Does your home make a loud bang when you shut off a faucet or tap?

One common cause is a pressure reducing valve (PRV). In some homes, a PRV creates what's known as a closed plumbing system. When you quickly shut off a tap, the moving water suddenly has nowhere to go, creating a pressure surge known as water hammer. That's the banging noise you're hearing.

The good news? In many cases, installing a properly sized thermal expansion tank can absorb that pressure and eliminate the noise.

If you're hearing banging pipes, don't ignore it. Over time, water hammer can put unnecessary stress on your plumbing system.

Just wrapped a fun project the clients been wanting to do for 2 years now. If you live in Fall River you probably know about the poor water recovery on most wells. This client added 2 cisterns giving him 500 gallons of water capacity and we paired it with a DAB booster pump for constant water pressure. We also installed a grundfos recirculation pump for instant hot water at the taps.
