As most everyone knows this is a part-time gig for me as i do work a full-time job during the week I'm limited to storage space as ive said to many over the years. But a couple years ago I started to try and keep inventory stock of the most common spark plugs because if I buy in bulk I usually get them cheaper which means cheaper for you the customer because I never have nor will I ever markup part's but over the weekend after making a couple trips for airfilters for customer's im absolutely appalled at what big box stores charge and how much the price has gone up. So late yesterday afternoon I made it my mission to do better for my customer's I went on the hunt and started buying the most commonly used airfilters in bulk it's going to take a bit to build inventory as this comes out of my pocket but I fully intend to get you the customer a better price.

The non self-propelled on the right is already running and gone. Our long time neighbor had his old mower deck finally gave up the ghost on him he had asked me earlier in the day if I wanted it for part's and that they was heading out to price new one's to which I said no you are not ive got 2 here i paid nothing for if i can get this one running do you want it? He wasn't worried about looks he wanted functionality and told me there's no rush and offered to pay. I knew it was going to be a simple fix so to surprise him I worked a little later in the bunker draining the over full oil out removed the vintage fuel from the tank removed the carburetor cracked it open to discover a world of I'm not sure what the carb bowl was full of some sort of a variety of chunky stuffs and possibly a combination of mud and rusty sludge after a bit of sanding carb cleaner and compressed air i got the carburetor cleaned put everything back together topped up with fresh fuel threw in a new brand name spark plug did a test mow on my lower 40 and sent a message your new to you mower is on its way over to you. No charge because we take turns mowing the front yard but I'm pretty sure he does most of the mows so the least I can do was cover the cost of the spark plug since it's the only thing I purchased for it. Today I will be going hard on the customer's mowers let's see how many i can knock off in a day.

So as I was finishing up a Lawn tractor to return i received a call from a BC number here visiting his Brother and they had this (see attached picture) that came back from the dealer that it was supposedly winterized and since getting it back they could not get it started. They had tried everything spark plug, had the carb off everything and could not get it to start. So I told them once I dropped the tractor off I'd swing by and see just what was going on. So I brought my carburetor screw driver, spark tester and a can of my old faithful carb cleaner figuring they've had everything apart so they have the rest of the tools. Arrived onsite and said okay ive never done an outboard so bare with me lol. We exposed the carburetor so I could give her a shot of GoGo juice to test if we had a fuel delivery issue once they showed the starting procedure 1 pull and she popped off ran and died i said okay we have a fuel delivery issue the owner noticed he forgot to set the idle in the start position so we repeated the steps this time setting the throttle and bam she roared to life. Now the brothers can enjoy their planned fishing adventures.

Scored these 2 non running mowers buddy no longer wanted. They need work and probably paint but I think I can bring them back to life 1 is just a regular push mower the other is a front wheel drive self-propelled.

Well yesterday was an interesting one 1st a push mowers airfilter soaking wet and full of mold the second one was a John deere lawn tractor I picked up for a full service this tractor was previously serviced by a local JD dealer well id love to have a chat with the mechanic who did it this because this kinda crap is ridiculous obviously they didn't prelube the rubber gasket on the filter and very obvious it was installed hand tight I busted 2 oil filter wrenches, the old leather belt trick wouldn't budge it, went and purchased a heavy duty wrench commonly used on big equipment like transports,farm tractors etc and it wouldn't budge in the end I had to resort to busted knuckles, the biggest flat head screwdriver in my arsenal and the largest pry bar i have along with a BFH (big F'in Hammer) to finally see some movement which had me excited like a little kid on Christmas morning so after way more hours then it should have been i was finally able to complete the service to the tractor.
