Carpentry is my background. I worked under various master carpenters before branching out on my own. Fine carpentry, roofing, exterior/interior renovations, and insulating were some of the areas that I focused on in my solo ventures as a carpenter. More recently I have studied building science and looking at the house as a complete system. This approach allows you to understand how each individual component of a building can effect another. Through my certification program as a Home Inspector, I studied all aspects of the home. Electrical, Plumbing, Structure, Foundations, the building site, Roofing, Asbestos awareness and much more. This program, coupled with my extensive background in the building industry, is what sets me apart as one of Cape Breton's most trusted building inspectors. A typical inspection starts outside with a detailed inspection of the lots/grounds, exterior of the home, and then the roof (and YES I get up on the roof!). Next we head indoor to the electrical systems, plumbing, heating systems, foundation and structure. Then the bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms and living spaces. Lastly, I crawl up into the attic space and look at the insulation levels/type, ventilation, and check for any unwanted leaks. All of this information is then complied into an electronic report which will be delivered to you as a PDF, in color and with LOTS of photos. (Printed copies are available if you prefer)
