Sue gave us a call last winter with a number of projects needing to be done on their property. This project as a whole was our biggest one so far and they are very pleased with the results!

Here’s what we tackled:
- Brush & stump clearing/existing brush pile removal
- Water/Electrical Trenching for a new sauna
- Electrial trenching for powered gates
- Footing excavation for sauna
- 150’ of french drains with multiple catch basins
- ~100 yds of bark mulch relocation
- Removed all of the existing gravel in the driveway
- Placed 1,500 linear feet of boulders to border the driveway
- Installed and compacted 180 tonnes of
3/4” road crush for a solid driveway base
- Installed and compacted 240 tonnes of
3/4” blue chip w fines to cap the driveway

The local raccoons had their way with this front lawn, digging up grubs. Our customers were tired of this destroyed yard and wanted a new look with a little less maintenance. We did just that! We landscaped almost half the yard with river rock, installed a garden berm and spread some brand new topsoil to prep for hydro seed.

Behind the scenes of Island Edge Contracting Ltd.

You may have seen us around town, but I just wanted to come on here and introduce myself and let you all get to know me a little better!

I was born and raised here, driven by creativity, hard work, and a serious work ethic; I’ve always loved entrepreneurship.

Since I was about 13, I grew up mowing the neighbours lawns and installing light landscaping with the tools I had access to. (Picture this: driving my dad’s ride-on mower around the neighbourhood with a wagon attached, to carry shovels, rakes, grass clippings, etc!)

At 17, I took it a bit further since I could then drive! After college and on weekends I continued working on landscaping projects around town. I then put that on hold and laboured for a local civil construction company, and then a pipeline maintenance/brushcutting outfit. Through those jobs I gained a lot of hands on experience and knowledge in the excavation industry, which has shaped Island Edge Contracting Ltd to where we are today.

At 19, I left my out of town job, decided it was time to start a real business and build something for myself! Now 21, I’ve been slowly building my ultimate dream; a well founded local business and brand. I’ve been blessed to work with some great customers, taken on very cool projects, and developed strong relationships in the industry.

Another one for the books 🤝🏼

Before we came in, this driveway was tired, hadn’t seen any maintenance for over 10 years and was experiencing major drainage issues.

Starting with the ditching on the property; We dug it out, then lined it with a heavy weight fabric and 4-6” clear fractured rock.

We then stripped off the organic materials on the driveway, raised the grade with road crush, and brought in over 175 tonnes of blue chip to compact and cap this driveway.

Our customer now has a solid, functional driveway that not only performs well, but also compliments their property and increases curb appeal substantially!

Buckley Bay -

This property access project is complete! We pulled all the stumps and debris from the proposed driveway layout, then stripped and hauled away countless loads of spoil.

We then put down a heavy weight fabric, spread and compacted 500 tonnes of 3” minus fractured rock to provide a strong and capable driveway foundation. We will be back in the spring to cap the driveway once their new modular home is in and septic is installed!
