Starting January 1, 2027, Ontario is introducing a new step in the home buying process for newly built properties: purchase agreements will need to be registered within 45 days. This update to the province’s home warranty program is designed to help verify builder licenses and spot illegal sales more efficiently. For buyers, it’s reassuring to know that deposit protection will still be in place—even if a registration is late or missed.
