The team had the opportunity to connect with industry friends at two Canadian produce events this past month: The CPMA semi-annual meeting and the OPMA annual golf tournament!
CPMA facilitated an intimate meeting of the minds which never fails to leave us fired up, newly inspired and with a fresh perspective. In similar fashion, the OPMA golf tournament was a blast, and we were so grateful for a beautiful day on the course. As always, this event was in full attendance and a great window to converse with industry partners (and to show off our skills 🏌🏽‍♀️⛳).

This August, Oppy was a sponsor of Ugly Potato Day in BC, an event that that set a Guinness World Records™ title for the most produce donated in 24 hours. Honored to see our grower partners Origin Organic Farms and Perpetual Veg Co. Perpetual help make it happen by donating fresh vegetables that went straight to local families. What started as one grower’s small idea to rescue imperfect potatoes has grown into a massive community movement and we’re proud to be part of it.🏆

This year, four University of Fraser Valley agriculture students joined the Oppy team in Toronto for the annual Canadian Produce Marketing Association convention. Alexander, Anna, Hallie, and Manraj all come from food and farming backgrounds, and their passion for agriculture and feeding people showed in every conversation they had.

After a busy week on the trade show floor and attending events, the students got a firsthand look at how special the produce industry is and were buzzing with everything they learned and experienced.

We're proud to have supported these four students on their journey, and even more excited about where they go from here.
