Tamlin International Homes

Tamlin International Homes Your Vision. Our Craft. A Home Like No Other. Since 1977 One of our specialties is timber frame or post and beam construction.

Tamlin (International) Homes Ltd, established in 1977, is based in Coquitlam BC, and is proud to be 100% Canadian owned and operated. Our business is designing and building custom residential homes and unique timber frame dwellings with a distinct west coast feel. We are full general contractor/builder in the Vancouver Area and Fraser Valley in BC, and we also manufacture home “packages” that are

shipped to remote building areas, or to other provinces within Canada, and throughout North America. Over the years Tamlin has grown our family of professional designers, building crews/sub-trades, and network of local building specialists to provide a unique custom level of service to each of our clients. These days, our hybrid homes integrate a balance of contemporary or traditional styles, so you can have as much or as little wood features or custom wood joinery in your home. While each one of our homes is designed to meet your specifications, our goal is always to exceed your expectations. Our approach to west coast style design includes three elements. First, we try to incorporate natural features such as wood and stone, and eco-friendly materials that will last a long time. Second we design using an open concept, with spacious and functional areas, which allow for ease of traffic flow, but privacy and comfort where you need it. Third we design using the highest level of materials quality and installation, with special focus on energy efficiency to save you money. Over the years Tamlin has amassed a diversified project portfolio including:

- Residential Homes
- Custom Cottages
- Remote/Island Projects
- Commercial Buildings
- Prefabricated Timber and Log Chalets
- Licensed Builder in B.C. Call today to meet with one of our specialists!

Comparing prefab home prices can be tricky because the number on the quote doesn’t always tell the whole story.

Before deciding which package offers the best value, take a closer look at exactly what is included. How far does the package take you? Are drawings and engineering included? What structural and exterior components are supplied? Has the package been designed for your site and climate? How are delivery and coordination handled?

Swipe through for 5 questions worth asking before comparing prefab home packages.

The goal isn’t just to compare prices. It’s to compare what you’re actually getting.

Before you get to the building stage, you need a design that has been worked through properly.

Tamlin’s Preliminary Design Stage can start with your own plans, a sketch or concept, or one of our customizable home designs. It is where the design is developed around your site, priorities and project requirements before final engineering and ordering.

The more you can plan and work through early, the fewer unknowns there are later.

The home shown here is the same project featured in our updated blog, from foundation through framing to the finished build.

This full exterior shot captures one of our custom home packages mid-assembly.

While we love our timber framing, this project highlights the value of our prefabricated wall panel system on its own. The panels are precision-engineered and manufactured in our controlled facility, then delivered to the job site ready to be lifted into place.

For the homeowner and builder, that preparation helps reduce on-site framing time, limit material waste, and move the project more efficiently toward lock-up and weather protection.

It also gives the home a strong, carefully planned building envelope, with wall components designed in advance to suit the layout, structure, and site conditions.

From carefully prepared components to a custom home taking shape on site.

Our Panorama Series homes are designed to maximize connection with the landscape, natural light, and outdoor living.

In this Idaho project, large sliding doors frame the wide horizon, open terrain, and expansive sky, drawing the beauty of the setting directly into the main living space. Beside them, the Cortizo minimalist sliding doors create a different kind of connection, opening the great room to a covered patio designed for easy indoor-outdoor living.

Closed, the slim profiles keep the space bright, comfortable, and protected. Open, the doors slide away to create a generous transition between the interior and the outdoor living area.

It transforms the way the great room can be used, whether for a breezy July afternoon, a quiet morning coffee, or a summer dinner that moves easily between inside and out.

Getting a custom timber package to a challenging building site requires careful planning long before the trucks arrive.

For this Washington State project, four truckloads carried Tamlin’s timber components and pre-insulated wall panels on 53-foot flatbeds through narrow, forested roads to reach the property.

The successful delivery marked an important milestone for the project. With materials on site, construction moved forward and the new home began taking shape.

Read the full article to see how thoughtful planning helped move this project from site access to fast framing.

A striking custom home is nearing completion on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, and it carries a special Tamlin connection.
This is the second home we have provided for these returning clients. Their first project was the award-winning original Gambier home, which inspired the Gambier design in Tamlin’s Signature Series.

Designed in response to a steep grade and exposed bedrock, the new home combines deep charcoal cladding, glass railings, warm natural wood soffits, and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean. Covered decks provide sheltered spaces for year-round outdoor living.

“Your vision, talent and expertise have given us two magnificent homes. We feel so thankful.” Patty and Teresa
