Tamlin (International) Homes Ltd, established in 1977, is based in Coquitlam BC, and is proud to be 100% Canadian owned and operated. Our business is designing and building custom residential homes and unique timber frame dwellings with a distinct west coast feel. We are full general contractor/builder in the Vancouver Area and Fraser Valley in BC, and we also manufacture home “packages” that are

shipped to remote building areas, or to other provinces within Canada, and throughout North America. Over the years Tamlin has grown our family of professional designers, building crews/sub-trades, and network of local building specialists to provide a unique custom level of service to each of our clients. These days, our hybrid homes integrate a balance of contemporary or traditional styles, so you can have as much or as little wood features or custom wood joinery in your home. While each one of our homes is designed to meet your specifications, our goal is always to exceed your expectations. Our approach to west coast style design includes three elements. First, we try to incorporate natural features such as wood and stone, and eco-friendly materials that will last a long time. Second we design using an open concept, with spacious and functional areas, which allow for ease of traffic flow, but privacy and comfort where you need it. Third we design using the highest level of materials quality and installation, with special focus on energy efficiency to save you money. This project is especially meaningful to us because it is the original Horne Lake plan.

Created for lake living, the home makes the most of its indoor outdoor connection with Eclipse folding doors that open the main living area directly to the deck. The result is a home that feels open, relaxed, and closely tied to the way people want to live at the lake in summer.

Summer on Galiano Island.

Some homes feel like they belong exactly where they are.

We do not often get to see a custom home captured from nearly the same point of view at an early construction stage and then fully finished. But it is always fun when we do.

This Georgia Strait project shows the transformation from prefabricated wall panels being assembled for the first floor to the completed home. The finished residence brings together clean modern rooflines, natural wood detailing, expansive glass, and layered West Coast landscaping.

This was clearly a challenging site, and the homeowners had a beautiful vision for what it could become. Seeing the finished home from this same perspective makes the transformation even more rewarding.

Progress is moving quickly on this beautiful custom home package we shipped on May 8.

From the forested site delivery to the main structure now taking shape, it is exciting to see this Tamlin package come to life. The framing is well underway, with the dramatic rooflines, large arched openings, and timber details already starting to show the character of the home.
Every successful build starts long before the walls go up, with careful planning, coordinated shipping, and a complete prefabricated package designed to help the project move forward efficiently on site.

We are looking forward to watching this one continue to take shape.

Summer is here, and the Sunshine Coast is calling.

A returning client is one of the best compliments we can receive. After working with this homeowner on their main house, they came back to Tamlin to design a matching carriage house with a workshop below.

The result is a practical, well integrated addition to the property, featuring warm natural wood detailing, clean lines, and flexible space. Today, the building works double duty, supporting the owner’s local kayak business below while serving as a summer rental suite above.

It is always rewarding to help a project grow beyond the original home and create a space that connects to how the owner lives, works, and welcomes others to their slice of the Sunshine Coast.
