When spider activity keeps coming back, there’s usually an underlying reason.

In Coquitlam, BC homes, I often find that spiders are staying because of ongoing insect activity or easy entry points around the property. Treating only the visible spiders doesn’t solve the full problem.

At Coquitlam Pest Control, I start with a proper inspection to see where spiders are active and what’s supporting them. That includes checking exterior areas, entry points, and interior conditions.

From there, I apply targeted treatments in key areas where spiders live and build webs. I also address contributing factors like insect activity and access points around the home.

The goal is not just to remove what you’re seeing now, but to reduce the chances of spiders coming back later in the season. Long-term control is what makes the difference for homes in Coquitlam, BC.

If you’re starting to notice spiders inside your home in Coquitlam,BC, there are a few things I usually recommend right away.

These steps won’t eliminate spiders completely, but they can help reduce activity.
Start by removing webs as soon as you see them. If webs are left alone, spiders tend to reuse the same areas.

Vacuum corners, ceiling edges, behind furniture, and storage areas regularly. These are common hiding spots.

Check window screens and door seals for small gaps. Spiders often get in through unnoticed openings.

Reduce indoor insects as much as possible, since spiders stay where there’s food.
Keep storage areas organized and avoid letting clutter build up, especially in basements and garages.

April is when I start getting more calls for spiders in Coquitlam,BC.

As the weather warms up, spider activity picks up both inside and around homes. Most of the time, people notice more webs showing up first, then actual sightings in corners, ceilings, and basements.

In many Coquitlam,BC homes, I find spiders building webs along ceiling edges, inside storage areas, around windows, and near lights where insects gather.

Spiders themselves aren’t usually aggressive, but the constant webs and repeated sightings make people feel like things aren’t under control.

Another thing I see often is that spiders stick around because there’s a steady food source. If there are other insects inside, spiders will stay and keep coming back.

At Coquitlam Pest Control, this is something I deal with every spring.

When ants keep showing up, there’s usually more happening than just what you see on the counter.

In Coquitlam homes, I often find colonies located along exterior foundations, under slabs, or inside wall spaces.

Sprays from the store might knock down the visible ants, but they rarely eliminate the source.

At Coquitlam Pest Control, I always start with a proper inspection to identify the species and locate nesting areas. Different ants behave differently, and treatment needs to match the situation.

From there, I use targeted treatments designed to eliminate the colony, not just the surface activity.

Just as important, I look at entry points and contributing conditions around the property so the same problem doesn’t return later in the season.

Long-term prevention is what makes the biggest difference for homeowners in Coquitlam.

If you’re starting to notice ants inside your home in Coquitlam, there are a few things I usually recommend right away.

These steps won’t eliminate a colony completely, but they can reduce what’s attracting them.

First, wipe down counters and floors regularly. Even small crumbs or sugary spills are enough to bring ants inside.

Store pantry items and pet food in sealed containers. I’ve seen ants get into packaging people thought was secure.

Check around doors, baseboards, and window frames for small gaps. Ants can enter through very small openings.

Outside, keep shrubs trimmed away from the house and avoid letting mulch sit too high against the foundation.

March is usually when I start getting more calls for ants in Coquitlam

As temperatures begin to rise, ants become active again. Once they find food inside a home, they don’t just wander through. They set up steady trails and keep coming back.

In many Coquitlam homes, I find ants in kitchens, along window frames, near sinks, and sometimes entering around foundation lines.

The ants you see are usually only a small part of a much larger colony nearby.

Some species contaminate food. Others nest along foundations or inside wall voids.

The longer they’re left alone, the more established the colony becomes.

At Coquitlam Pest Control, I deal with this every spring.

I work with a lot of homeowners in Coquitlam who deal with ongoing ant pressure, especially when there’s a colony nearby that can’t be accessed directly.

In cases like that, staying consistent with treatment each year really does make the difference.

“Joe and his team are kind and super responsive. Although we have to spray every year due to an ant colony somewhere close to our house that we cannot locate, they are informative, professional, and get the job done.”

When I handle rodent issues in Coquitlam, the first thing I do is a thorough inspection.

That means finding where the mice or rats are getting in, where they’re nesting, and how active the problem really is.

Every home is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.

From there, I use targeted trapping methods placed in the right locations to safely remove the rodents.

At the same time, I focus on exclusion work—sealing entry points, reinforcing vulnerable areas, and addressing conditions that are attracting them in the first place.

The most important part of professional rodent control is prevention. Removing rodents without fixing access points just leads to repeat problems.

The goal is to make sure they can’t get back inside once they’re gone, especially during Coquitlam’s colder months when rodent pressure is high.

If you live in Coquitlam and you’re trying to cut down on rodent activity, the first step I recommend is making your home less inviting.

I always suggest checking around doors, vents, and utility lines for small gaps—I see mice get inside through very small openings. Sealing those entry points can make a big difference.

Rodents are opportunistic, and I’ve seen even small crumbs keep them coming back. In basements, garages, and storage areas, I advise reducing clutter so rodents have fewer places to hide or nest.

Outside, I tell homeowners to make sure garbage bins are tightly closed and not overflowing. If you have firewood or stored items, I suggest keeping them off the ground and away from the house when possible.

February is the peak season I see for mice and rats here in Coquitlam.

As soon as the temperature drops, I notice them start looking for warmth, and homes give them everything they need.

Once they get inside, they settle in fast, and in my experience, they rarely leave without intervention.

In a lot of Coquitlam homes, I find chewed electrical wiring, torn insulation, and food contaminated in pantries and cupboards.

Rodents aren’t just a nuisance. I know they carry bacteria and diseases, and the damage they cause can turn into expensive repairs if it’s ignored.

The biggest issue I see is people waiting too long and assuming the problem will go away on its own—it almost never does.

Here’s a recent rodent situation I was called out for and how it was resolved.
